IS GENUINE SNAPPER TURTLE SOUP WtUCtKS tVtKyWKtRt Pope's Easter Message (Continued from Page 1) ed a stormy night, when all na ture seems overthrown and de void of hope. The traveler stumb les without stars to guide him and fears he is lost. But after a night of terror, he said, dawn forces back the storm, ‘a shudder passes through the earth. Life is restored.” The night preceding the Resur rection was such a time, he said. The Shepherd had been struck and the flock dispersed. Christ's enemies were convinced that they had buried the ‘seducer of the people.’ His lifeless remains lay in the tomb. His lips silent. His power to command the ele ments.. perform miracles and raise the dead was stilled. All these facts, the Pope point ed out seemed to say: "All is finished.” "A short distance away." he continued, "amid the silence of a tiny dwelling, there bums a flame of faith which was never extinguished: with confidence un shaken. Mary awaits Jesus. "And behold! the earth trem bles. The angel descends from heaven and rolls away the heavy stone which sealed the tomb and takes his place upon it ... At long last, the dawn.” The Pope said that the hopes the night which has descended upon the world and pressed down in like manner, will soon see the dawn. "Men of every nation and con tinent have been forced to live confused and anxious in a topsy turvy world Error, common in well night countless forms. Jias made slaves of the intellects of men Individuals, classes and peoples persist in remaining di vided and consequently without social intercourse And when they do know each other, they hate each other: they plot against, struggle with, and de stroy one another.” Even this night, however, shows clear signs of a dawn that will come, continued the Pope. In the world, under Providence, methods for a fuller and freer development of life ate about to he multiplied. The discoveries of science technical development, and organization are about to put .such a life at the disposal of men. "Nuclear energy, has in fact already opened a new age con tinned the Holy Father. "And yet, all this is still night. Night indeed full of groaning end hope, but night. Night which could also, even unexpectedly, become engulfed in storm." The Pope said that many are coming to know and to admit that this night of the world was brought on because Christ was arrested, because men wished to exclude Him from the family, cultural-, and social life: because "people have risen up against Him because He has been cruci fied and rendered voiceless and motionless.” The Vicar of Rome ended his discourse with a moving prayer: "Com* Lord Josusl "The human race has not the strength to move the stone which it has itself fashioned seeking to impede Thy return. Send Thy angel, O Lord, and make our night grow bright as the day. “How many hearts. O Tx»rd. await Thee! How many souls are longing for the hastening of the day in which Thou alone wilt live and reign in their hearts. “Come Ixird Jesus! “There are numerous signs that Thy return is not far off. “O Mary, who hast seen Him risen: Mary. Hom whom the first appearance of Jesus took away the unspeakable anguish produc ed by the night of the Passion: Mary, we offer the first fruits of this day to thee. To thee spouse of the Divine Spirit, we offer our heart and our hope Amen.” ime and Sen. (Continued from Page 1) rection actually exists. But Mosh er has carried the question of "evidence” to ridicu’cus ex tremes. In order to satisfy his de mands last week, Senators Putka and Robert Shaw, co sponsor (R.-Columbus) would have had to spend most of the past two years pursuing dirty films all over the state with pad and pencil to note down the censorable parts. The implication, of course, is that there have been no such films. Sen. .Mosher should know better. Movie industry leaders themselves have denounced the showing of sex films in Ohio since film censorship was nulli fied. So have the editors of movie trade publications. Two Ohio communities have seriously considered setting up film censoring bodies themselves. This should be enough evidence for most reasonable men. But not for Sen. Mosher. In his zaal for avidenco, Moshar, a publisher, has sur passed the lawyer* of the House Judiciary committee who two years ago decided there was enough evidence to warrant sending the bill to the House floor where it received an over whelming vote of approval. By delaying hearings to this late date and by tactics used last week. Sen. Mosher again leaves himself open to the charge of abuse of power. But after all. Sen. Mosher is not the only one concerned here. There are 32 other senators and 139 members of the House also duly elected representatives of Ohio’s 8.000,000 citizens who should have a chance to vote on film censorship. One of the arguments used against film control goes like this: "Why should I let someone else tell me what 1 can and can not see.” Members of the General As sembly- -particularly the Repub lican leadership might well consider a similar question: “Why should1 we let Sen Mosher tell us what we can and cannot vote on?” It might help to remove this “evidence" block, however, if par ents and others interested film licensing would inform Sen. Mosher and Governor William O’Neill of their own observations on obscene films Both can be reached al the State Capital Co lumbus 15. Ohio.
