Lydia Henson made a trip to Springtown Monday returning Mon day evening. Another nice rain fell Monday night which was beginning to be wished for. J. A. Jones purchased a horse from Burr Jones of Siloam Springs first of tl>e week. Bass Davis is on the sick list this week. Dr. Clemmer was called to see him Tuesday. A graveyard working was given Tuesday. Several were present and soon improved the looks of the grave-yard. Mr. and Mrs. DeRoques and child ren went over near Decatur Monday where they intend to stay through the berry season. Several of the young people around here are expecting to attend the Children's Day services at Springtown next Sunday. Mrs. Provost returned home Mon day from her father’s home in Mis souri. Mrs. Provost reports her father some better when she left dim. Some of the fox-hunters came ov er from Bentonville Wednesday night and had a nice fox-chase, but we un derstand that there was no fox caught. Tom Lindsay, Cal., Saturday morn ng where they have been for some :ime. Mr. and Mrs. Henson will be it home to their many friends at Springdale soon. Cassandra. SOUTH SPRINGDALE. Wonder what has become of Mike? Short berry crop. Short crop of diort cake. Sorry. The Jonesboro, (III.) Gazette says he short cake season will lie short ip there. Jack Goree has got home from his sojourn in the north in which he .isited a number of the states. Mrs. Bayless Lucas has Don't Worry's thanks for a nice box of strawberries. More short cake. Barbers used .to comb their cus omer's moustaches and whiskers, rhey don’t do it now, wonder why? The nights and days keep so cool ve wonder at the picking being as ;ood as it is. Strawberries net d lot sun in their business. Mack Trowbridge and Charley Jhadwell have been away for two weeks over on White River digging i well for Dr. Martin. They went lack Monday to be gone another two weeks/ Mrs. Annie Plummer is helping Lari Goree with his strawberries. The first strawberries Don’t Worry picked after coming to Arkansas was for Pro. Trowbridge, Mrs. Plumm er's first husband. We are under obligations to Mr. and Mrs. Turner for a nice lot of ripe straw'berries, all of which means a strawberry short cake soon er or later. Mr. Turner bought the Geo. Kennan place near Goree’s. Don't Worry can eat strawberry short cake three times a day, morn ing, noon and night, and then get up, midnight and take on another in voice and get up in the morning as fresh as a new bloom rose. Who can beat it? Since Dr. Christian shaved off his moustache, Don't Worry hasn't ever met the doctor to know him, and that has been quite a while. Why thus Dr., why thus? Who would of thot tiiat so slight a change would have made you so that your best friends wouldn't know you. Guess we will have to have an introduction, if ev er we meet again. It is said that when you pull those beautiful feath ers from the pea fowls tail that he hides out for a time, because he has boon robbed of lbs beauty. We al ways thought the doctor a very handsome man, whether he has im proved any on his good looks by shaving off his moustache Don't Worry is unable to say. We was told that our rural route man Xo. 1, Mr. Sweeney, had a wedding at his house Sunday his daughter, Miss Willie, and a Mr. Wright were married, all of which will accept of our congratulations, aud may happiness be theirs in this life aud the world to come. Thus it is, two and two they go away, with others to live, with others to stay. Another home nest robbed of its fledging, and gone away with its mate to try the realities of a duel life. Two more hearts made to beat as one, and may it ever be thus with them through life is the wish of Don't Worry. Q lite a host of berry pickers have journeyed up from the south, but on ly a very few of them are the old “r milars" who have been stopping off here annually to help harvest the 1 >eal crop of berries. The berry season rush is causing local folks to lose interest in the "war news" from Mexico. Mully is too busy with the berry business this week to gather many local happenings for The News. 1 'ink Carrett is helping John Bos well during the berry season. John is doing quite a business in the res taurant line. The electors of the Johnson school district met Saturday evening, and adjourned to meet again on the first Saturday evening in June. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Murray, of ^ ■ ":ing, Okla , are visiting relatives here this week. Sam used to live here a good many years ago. CV S. Mayes is arranging to move his family over to Muskogee, Okla., about June 1st. Charley is engaged in the whlesole fruit business at Muskogee. Dick Lichlyter is harvesting his first crop of alfalfa—which is why able at present, as Dick always has trouble with the weather when start in" on that alfalfa cutting. Mrs. May Key and son, George, and Miss Beulah Langford were out from Fayetteville Saturday and Sun day visiting with relatives. They ntend to leave Fayetteville this week for a ‘-’ojourn with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. 1’. Langford, at Sapul pa, Ok. The weather lias been very unfav orable for the berry business in this section. Fourteen cars have been loaded here to date, but it is rain ing this morning (Tuesday) and the growers will be unable to do much picking today. If weather conditions change for the better and clear skies come -why the shipping season will continue into next week, as there are lots of green berries to ripen yet. Mulkeepmo.
