Mrs. Maguire and Miss Janey Isaacs visited relatives west of Fay etteville a few days last week. Misses Clara and Amanda Fawbush, and Opal and Alta Newell, of Trace Valley, attended church at Sulphur Sunday. Geo. Hanshew, of West Fork visited his sister, Mrs. J. L. Boaz Wednesday, remaining over until Thursday, Frank Johnson and wife, and Miss Iva Stoekburger attended the spirit ual meeting at Mike Plumbs last Sun day evening. There will be no Christmas tree at Salem as was first stated. On ac count of the difficulty at the pie supper there la^t Wednesday night. Loyd Swift, from Elkins, and Jim Harris of Salem were both drinking and got into a dispute in the ho’use. Miss Edna Smith, who is teaching singing at Silent Grove, attended church at this place Sunday and visi ted at Aunt Naney Brown’s until Mon day. Mrs. I. J. Hairston left Wednesday of last week for Hartman, Ark., to visit a few days with her brother and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Mabry, who re cently came in from Pocatello, Idaho, were visiting the latters father Sat urday night and Sunday. Mrs. Ruth Arnold was taken very ill at church Sunday morning with an attack of appendicitis but is doing very well at this writing. Ab Davenport is working in the blacksmith shop at Healing Springs. Bart Pierce shiped a car load of cattle from Healing Springs last Sat urday. Sill and Fred Rife are still working on the new house of D. Muldrew near Cave Springs. We have been having some real winter weather since the rain last Thursday night. There was a great many fat hogs killed in this neighborhood, during the past few days. Dewit Rife and wife moved on to the Aunt Mary Brown farm last week. Aunt Mary will make her home with them. Sanford McClure and wife moved up near Rogers last week, where, they will make their home for the next year. The farmers are beginning to plow for their next years’ crop. (Good for the farmers, the more land plowed now, the better bed for corn—Ed.) Alex Philpot has the lumber on the ground to start his new residence. He and family will reside in the house I of Sam Murdick, until their new home is completed. Hugh Garrit has rented the Tom , I Tate home farm near Healing Springs he having sold his blacksmith shop j to Orlando Hellestern, and he will try farming next year. Thomas Tate, of Healing Springs, has rented the Joe McVey building for his stock of dry goods for which he traded his farm, near Farmington. This makes four stores in Healing Springs. Aunt Susan Chastain died at her home on November 28th, and was bur ied in the Hart cemetery the 29th. She was 74 years old, and leaves three sons, one daughter and her husband to mourn her loss. Miss Nellie Tillotson of Oak Grove and Miss Nora Peterson spent Wednesday afternoon at the Gaston home. Miss Nora Peterson and sister Irene of North Springdale, also Miss Nellie i Tillotson of Oak Grove, spent Sun day at J. R. Smith’s. Ragland of Fayetteville was to have begun a meeting at this place to-day, but was detained at home to conduct a funeral and the opening of the meeting was post poned for a week. Mr. Ragland con ducted six funerals last week. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Moore and son and daughter went visiting up above Carter recently in their auto and took Mr. and Mrs. Roberts along with them. They visited Mrs. Louvina Ramey, mother of Mrs. Roberts, at the home place, and report a nice time. Mrs. Ramey is now visiting here and will remain until after Christmas. Maxine, thirteen months old baby girl of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Barron, after several weeks illness, died De cember 7. We surely sympathize with Mr. and Mrs. Barron in their very sail bereavement. Zimri Vaughan of Oklahoma is vis iting relatives and friends in the Vaughan Valley. Mr. Vaughan mov ed from Arkansas thirty years ago and had never been back till this fall.
