SEMMONS & CO.S CELEBRATED PANTOSCOPIC BRA ZILLIAN PEBBLE SPECTACLES. A. GEDEON, (late ofScmmnns k Co., Cornwall, Rug land.) respectfully announces his arrival, with a splendid assortment of these newly improved spectacles, and may be consulted at his office, in CARROLL HALL, corner of Baltimore and Calvert streets, up stairs, ROOM No. 2. This is the only true Lens that has hitherto been con structed, and is founded on the most scientific principles, in accordance with the philosophy of nature, in the pecu liar form of a concave-convex mirror, and most admirably adapted to the Organ of sight, perfectly natural to the Eye affording, altogether, the best artificial help to the hu man vision. The great novelty in them is the focus, which is disposed of in such a manner as to counteract the infirmity which it is intended to remedy. The material of which they are manufactured gives them a superior hardness and polish, preventing them from being defaced by scratches. Their coolness recommends them especially to those having weak and irritable eyes. The superiority and usefulness of these improved spectacles is fully demonstrased by the unani mous approval of the most celebrated Physicians and Ocu lists of Europe and America. The experience Prof. Gedeon has acquired, combined with his perfect knowledge of the Optical Science, enables him to decide with certainty, on the mere inspection of the eye, what sort of glasses are best suited to correct the de fect or vision, either to give it greater strength, or merely preserve it, as maybe necessary, without causing any ap parent change, any fatigue or weakness. OFFICE Hot'as—From 8 A. M. till 5 P. M. N. B. Persons in the country can he supplied by for warding in a letter one of their old glasses. TESTIMONIALS. I have examined the Brazillian Pebble Spectacles manu factured by Messrs. Summons k Co., aud while theoreti cally satisfied, from a knowledge of the material and their construction, of their superiority over those in more gen eral use heretofore, I have also tested them with tbo. who have used other glasses, and would hence cheerfully recommend them to all whose sight requires artificial aid. \V. MiLTINBEGEB, M.D . Baltimore, Sept, Ist. 1858. I fully concur in the opinion expressed by Dr. Milten berger and take great pleasure in recommending the Bra zilian Pebble glasses to the public. N. R. SMITH, M. D. Baltimore, Sept. Ist, 1858. PHILADELPHIA, May 30th, 1858. PROP. A GEDEON: Dear Sir: —l have great pleasure in adding my testimo ny to the large amount you have received in favor of the "Brazilian Pebbles." They are the most comfortable glasses I have ever used, and I can most cordially recommend them to all requiring artificial aid. 1 am greatly indebted to you for bringing them to my notice. AV A M P LER, CIVIL AND MECHANICAL ENGINEER, BALTIMORE, MD. It Is an AUTOMATIC SURVEYOR, which, by simple mechanism, is made to record accurately—on a strip, or endless roll of paper—a CORRECT PROFILE of any route passed over; the ANOLES of DEFLECTION riglitand left; and the DIIJTANCB travelled, upon any required scale, or set of scales. This machine may represent in appearance or purpose, an ordinary Buggy Wagon, with the addition of the very valuable attachment claimed above. There is a box con taining the simple contrivance for recording upon the strip of paper as above mentioned. Motion is conveyed to the paper by the revolution of the hind wheel, which acts by band and geer upon rollers over which the paper is carried. One half the strip of paper is devoted to hori zontal projection, the other half to vertical projection, and the centre or division is a line of pricked distances. The DEFLECTIONS are worked by the turning of the fore axle of the Buggy in assuming the horizontal changes in the route; the PROFILE, by a weight, adapting itself to the lowest position attainable through anychanges in the lev el of the route passed over; and the DISTANCES, by points at calculated intervals, on the periphery of one of the rollers conveying the paj>er. I will sell STATE RIGHTS, COUNTY RIGHTS, or INDIVID UAL RIGHTS, for the USE. or USE and MANUFACTURE of this Machine on reasonable terms. Address the patentee, J.
