Clinic of Montgomery County
will hold its second annua) din
ner dance Friday night, June
9. at the Norbeek Country Club,
according to Dr. George Sharpe,
president of the clinic.
Leaders in the fields of men
tal health, community affairs
and the general public are in
vited to attend the affair. The
Community Psychiatric Clinic
of Montgomery County is the
only agency in the county pro
viding therapy for patients who
cannot afford private psychiat
ric care.
Arrangements for the dinner
dance are being made by a com
mittee which includes Mrs. H.
Morton Thomas, Mrs. Horner
Godelsky, Mrs. Christopher
Bever and Mrs. Charles Ride

Maryland's State Comptroller,
Louis L. Goldstein, has indicated
that not all farmers are taking
advantage of the sales tax ex-
I emption which is available to
| them on certain containers.
Containers such as baskets
and crates which are sold along
with the farmer’s products and
which will not be returned to
the farmer can be purchased
i tax-free if the farmer obtains
; a sales tax registration number.
Registration fee is $1 and does
not have to be renewed and
does not obligate the farmer to
file monthly returns but gives
him the authority to issue a
resale certificate, which form is
available at the sales tax of
fice, when purchasing items
which will be resofd with his
crops.

sented a Certificate of Appre
ciation tn District of Columbia
Police Detective Sgt. Mark W.
Gray, who saved the life of a
WSSC employee in an electric
power line accident Tuesday,
May 8.
Sergeant Gray applied artfi
cial respiration for more than
20 minutes to revive Benjamin
Attaway, 5103 Bth st., N.W., a
pipe tapper-layer for the Com
mission.
Mr. Attaway was believed
dead after being shocked by a
40,000-volt line charge transmit
ted through a crane being used
to install a water house con
nection in the 800 block of Uni
versity blvd., Silver Spring.
The WSSC Certificate “for
outstanding service” pointed out
: that “Sergeant Gray’s efforts
J resulted in saving the life of a
[ fellow man. His fast and effl-1
j cient action in reviving Mr. At-;
i taway was most commendable I
and is greatly appreciated by all j
of us at the Commission.”
Sergaeant Gray, who lives at j

Spring, was off duty and just
happened to be near when the
accident occurred.

Language Facility
Gets Underway
Construction will start imme
diately on a student response
language laboratory at Mont
gomery Junior College.
The electronic installation for
30 students involves a giant,
flexible control board from
which the instructor may teach,
listen to or record the work of
the individual students. Each lo
cation will be equipped with a
turntable for playing records,
and a tape deck for recording
and playing tapes, at the stu
dent’s direction.
The facility will be directed
by Dr. Eric Lobouvie, one of
three charter members of the
original junior college teaching
facility.
