Many experts said that grass seed at a much Over the Garden Wall Slime Molds On Lawn There are several species of slime mold which are common on grasses in Maryland. These slime molds develop on grass, weeds, or lawn debris in late spring and again during the humid weather of summer and autumn. The fruiting bodies of the most common species, Physarum cinereum, are blue gray and powdery. These fruit ing bodies form on grass blades and are scattered in groups or rings in areas several feet in diameter. Slime molds aren’t parasitic, but use the grass for physical support. However, in jury to the grass may result from shading. One of the con trols is to sweep the lawn and wash the spores off with a strong stream of water. Lutheran Women Hold 20th Annual Convention Here Three county churches will be represented at the annual con vention of the Lutheran Wom en’s Missionary League, Ches apeake District, being held this weekend at the Motel Washing tonian in Gaithersburg. Local societies of the nine churches of Zone Six of the Chesapeake District will host the convention. Among them are: Calvary Lutheran Church of Silver Spring, Pilgrim Lutheran of Bethesda and the Lutheran Church of St. Andrew, Silver Spring.
