Little Leaguers Pick Winners of Awards A father-son team will steal the spotlight this weekend when the Montgomery County Little Leaguers are presented well-de served awards. Bill Spencer, manager of St. Mary’s, and his son, Boots, will receive prizes for outstanding performances in the Rockville Boys’ Baseball Association. The senior Spencer piloted St. Charles Horsky to Head International Horse Show Charles Horsky, prominent Washington attorney and re cently appointed Presidential ad visor, has been named President of the Fifth Washington Inter national Horse Show to be held at the D. C. National Guard Armory from October 23 to 28. The show, which establishes Washington in the top rank of international horse shows, will bring to the Armory many of the world’s leading riders, inter national teams, and hundreds of the best hunters, jumpers, Ara bians, saddle horses, roadsters, cutting horses, walking horses, and quarter horses in the United States and abroad. Among its outstanding fea tures will be spectacular exhibi tions in dressage, or intricate movements to music by highly trained horses and riders; excit ing jumping contests, and spirited competition between the United States and other interna tional equestrian teams and riders for the President of the United States’ Perpetual Corp. Mr. Horsky also is president of the Washington International Horse Show Association, Ltd., the non-profit organization spon soring the show. He will be assisted by a group composed largely of prominent Washing ton area residents active in the horse world. The Rockville Boys’ Baseball Association will present awards Friday night at 7:30 o’clock at the Rockville Civic Center. Following up the RBBA award presentations will be the tlve secretary of the Washing ton International Horse Show Association, Ltd. Spear, New York attorney, as president of the Washington International Horse Show Association, Ltd. Mr. Spear took a leading role In organizing the association last year to assure the show’s continuity and its leading place among international horse shows. He continues as a director of the association. Principal assistants to Mr. Horsky in organizing and direct ing the October 23-28 show are these officers and other direct ors of the Washington Interna tional Horse Show Association, Ltd. Potomac Polo Club Holds 12-Goal Event Bill Malone, president of Po tomac Polo Club, and Jim Spurier, steward of the Mary land-Virginia Polo Association, jointly announced recently plans for the first 12-goal arena tournament ever held in the Washington area with the finals scheduled for September 15 at Potomac. The two spokesmen reported that the season’s biggest polo event is expected to draw the cream of the players in the southeastern circuit of the United States Polo Association. The marked improvement in Montgomery County Boys’ Base ball Association. The MCBBA has scheduled its banquet for the next night, Saturday, at 6:30 p.m. at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School. The Sentinel will award tro phies to RBBA’s Most Valuable Players and the MCBBA's run ner-up teams. Officials in the Rockville Boys’ Baseball Association have picked, in addition to Boots Spencer, Tim Zetts (Civitan), Charles Miller (Garden Gate), Pete Mulgrew (St. Mary’s) as Most Valuable Players. Zetts was the pitching hero of the Peewee Division playoffs, while Miller starred in the Midget circuit. Mulgrew was named the standout player among the Sen iors for his all-around play. In the junior league, Christ Lutheran and Bethesda Presby terian combined team won the league with an undefeated re cord. Bethesda Methodist came second and Bethesda Christian third.
