City Handbook Tells All About Rockville Rockville residents, old and new, have an opportunity to learn more about their city through an informative “Citi zens’ Handbook” just released by the Mayor and City Council. Starring with Miss Munsel in the show that will run June 18-23 is Robert Alda, musical comedy and motion picture star. “Can-Can” is a songfest about Paris in 1893 and some of its more Bohemian citizens. A new ly-appointed and over-zealous magistrate decides to undertake a reform movement but becomes with the principles of the new dance and as a result there is a police scandal and the magi strate is disbarred. At the end, after falling in love, he joins others in the teaching of the “Can-Can.” Drive Raises SI6OO for Einstein Band A drive to raise money for 100 new uniforms for the Albert Einstein High School band has been launched by the Reusing ton-Wheaton Junior Chamber of Commerce. A group of Einstein students, aided by members of the K-W Jaycees, made a door-to-door collection Saturday in the school district which brought in con tributions totaling SI6OO. Persons who were not con tacted and would like to con tribute may do so by sending their donation to Kensington- Wheaton Jaycees, Inc., Band Uniform Fund, Box 1421, Whea ton, Md. The 28-page booklet, available at the City Hall or by mail through the simple procedure of a telephone call or letter, of fers a brief but informative re view of the city’s history, dat ing back to Colonial days. It also provides a full description of its present form of govern ment, the status of its key of ficials and the features of its merit system of employment. Two full pages are devoted to resumes of existing city ordi nances that have drawn the largeut number of inquiries from citizens, along with those deemed to be of particular in terest to taxpayers living with in the city limits. A single page, under the title “Rockville at a Glance,” gives geographical data about the city, including its altitude and size and its bonded indebted ness. Briefly outlined is infor mation about the Rockville churches, civic auditorium, fire department, 1 libraries, news paper service, industry and other items of general interest to the average resident. The back page of the hand book lists telephone numbers through which residents can obtain police or fire service in an emergency, along with more routine information concerning city services, the public school program, services provided Rockville residents by the Montgomery County govern ment and, for those who live in the portion of the city served by the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, separate water and sewage facilities. In a 25-minute match, the team representing the State De partment beat their opponents, Paul Heil and Aaron Heller of Naval Ordnance Laboratory 6-0, 6-1. Coles and Ingram drew a bye on their first round in the tour nament and lost a total of only six games on their way up the ladder to the trophy. On Fri day in the semi-finals, they de feated Morton Stimler and Elias Schuman 6-1, 6-0. Coles, who is national mixed doubles champion in the Na tional Tennis Association, is teaming up with Ingram in the District of Columbia Recreation Department tournament which is currently in progress.
