PAGE FOUR RETURNS FROM TRIP TO CAMP NYA AREA SUPERVISOR RE PORTS ON TRIP TO CAMP ROOSEVELT After a very pleasant trip to Comp Roosevelt, Victor Lowe, NYA Area Supervisor, returned over the highway this week. Numbered in the party who made the trip were B. Howard Brown, District Supervisor, NYA; C. P. Thayer, Area Supervisor, Dade County, and Mr. Lowe. The purpose of this trip was the transporting of Mecedes Ba quet to the camp at Ocala, and Benjamin Neely, Edward Suarez and Randolph Storr to the A. & M. College in Tallahassee. Mr. Lowe was very enthusias tic over the excellent opportuni ties being offered these girls in at tending Camp Roosevelt. In his opinion, it is incomparable to anything of its kind in Florida. Mr. Lowe stated that in proof of this, every girl in camp was a picture of happiness. Each seem ed anxious for her classes to start. The personnel of the camp is the vepy best obtainable, and living conditions are excellent, with all intern conveniences. r> . . ‘lf the parents of girls who have been given a chance to at tend this camp and were refused permission by their relatives, were to visit this resident train ing project they would make every effort in the future to send their children to such a wonder ful place”, Mr. Lowe stated. “They would realize that after these youths complete their courses they will be in a position to accept private employment at classes of work in which they have become skilled. Such posi tions would be refused to other youths who did not attend the camp”. , THE WEATHER Temperatures* Highest 73 Lowest Mean ; : ICB Normal Mean ...70 Rainfall* Yesterday’s Precipitation .01ns. Hathaway, who was just a little over a year ago transferred from the Customs Service in Key West to Pensa cola, in which is chronicled the death of Mrs. Hathaway. Mr. Hathaway writes in con nection with the death of Mrs. Hathaway, that her passing was sudden, heart faliure being the cause. “She had been sick ever since coming up here, in the hos- j pital a large part of the time in care of a heart specialist”, Mr. Hathaway writes. “She loved the home on South street, the flowers and her many Key West friends, and since she has been sick and unable to get around very well, talked about them all so much”. The wish is expressed by Mr. Hathaway that he would have been able to bring Mrs. Hath away to Key West for a visit, and stay a while but she was not strong enough to stand the trip. Expressing the hope that he will be able to visit in the city as soon as he can make it possible, the writer concludes with the wish for a Merry Christmas for Mr. and Mrs. Bates and all friends in Key West.
