USNR, son of Mrs. Grace Mary
Walsh, 2917 W. Jackson Blvd.,
Chicago, 111., has, recently com
pleted a four months course in All
Weather Flight at the Fleet All
Weather Training Unit, Atlantic,
Key West, Fla. The course con
sists of advanced flight training in
instruments and night tactics de
signed to qualify the pilot for Car
rier All Weather Squadrons.
He will report to Composite
Squadron Twelve, Naval Air Sta
tion, Quonset Point, R. 1., for duty
involving flying.

LT. E. T. WALSH
Lieutenant Walsh entered naval
service in August 1942 as an avia
tion cadet in the Navy, V-5 pro
gram. In August 1944, he was des
ignated a naval aviator after com
pleting the prescribed flight train
ing course at Pensacola, Fla. He
was subsequently assigned to
Squadron VF-152. From 1946 until
1950, he belonged to Reserve
Squadron, VF-97E. at Squatura,
Mass.
He is married to the former Miss
Barbara E. Lister, daughter of Mr.
ind Mrs. 'John W. Lister, 7 Fern
crest Blvd. Providence, Mass.
They have a son, John L. (8),
and two i daughters, Kathleen T.
(3) and Maureen J. (1).
Lieutenant Walsh graduated from

Legion Post 12 and St. Joseph’s
Council, Knights of Columbus, both
in Wickerford, R. I. in 1942, Lieu
tenant Walsh played on the for
midable lowa Pre-Flight Seahawks
football team whose season record
was marred only by a loss to
Norte Dame.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaya
Psychological warfare experts
have invited Malaya’s embattled
guerrilla rebels 9B per cent of
them Chinese—to come out of the
jungle for a traditional Chinese
New Year feast on Saturday.
“Remember preserved ducks,
sausages and meat?” asked 15,000
cards showered from Royal Air
Force planes over North Malaya.
“Just think how happy your New
Year can be.
“Have you thought about your
parents, brothers, sisters, wives,
children? What are their circum
stances at the present?” the in
vitations continued. “Ask yourself,
must I continue toward the path
of death? Or is there a way out
even now?
“Yes, there is a way. Hurry up
and come out of the jungle.”
