Island City Navy Wives 9 Club Installs Officers Island City Navy Wives’ Club, No. 88, installed newly-elected of ficers in a candlelight ceremony 'recently at the American Legion Home on Stock Island. Chaplain Wilbur M. Laudenslag- j er, who holds the U. S, Navy rank: of Lieutenant Commander, officiat- j ed as installing officer and Mrs. j D. B. Braxton, southeastern region-; al vice-president, was mistress of ceremonies. Mrs. Mary Ann Chatterton, the group’s chaplain, opened the oc casion by singing "My Task.” She was accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Edna Tiffany. Officers installed were president Betty Edwards, vice president- Kit ty Boyd, treasurer-Phyilis Nelson, corresponding secretary - Mary T Smith, recording secretary - An toinette Thompson, parliamentar ian • Dorothy Hamilton and chap lain - Mary Ann Chatterton, Newly installed president, Mrs. Betty Edwards has been a mem ber of this branch of the Navy Wives’ Club for the past four years. During this time she has held every office and charmanship. Mrs. Mary Smith, retiring presi-' dent, presented Mrs. Edwards with her gavel as symbol of office. Mrs. Edwards presented a past presidents pin to Mrs. Smith as a token of gratitude of the club’s members. Mrs. Smith also receiv ed a past-president’s engraved ga vel as a remembrance from the group, presented by Mrs. Braxton. Mrs. Mary Ann Chatterton was chosen to give a large spray of flowers to Mrs. Smith. , Chaplain Laudenslager, speaker of the evening, told of the many advantages in membership in the Navy Wives’ Club including their help to many lonely wives in aid ing them to make friends as they go from station to station with their husbands. J. Paul Touchton read the single ring ceremony before an altar decorated with baskets of white gladioli. The bride went down the aisle on the arm of her brother. Arthur Lowe. She wore a gold two-piece knitted suit, whith brown velvet hat and brown acces sories. Her corsage was of tiny yellow rosebuds. Mrs. Arthur Loew, who is sister in-law of the bride, wore a white faille suit with red accessories and a corsage of red carnations. Mr. Shanahan chose as his best man Wadsworth Dementi, and ushers were William Lones and Anthony Ulchar. Mrs. P. Bernard Roberts played the soft organ music throughout the ceremony as well as the tradi tional wedding marches.
