J. Trombly and Miss Betty Roberts attended the wedding of Miss Patricia Lee Grimm and Kenneth Noel Solomon, Mrs. Trombly’s son, on August 25 in Jacksonville Beach. The wedding was solemnized by the Reverend Father Joseph Da ley at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Jacksonville Beach. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Grimm of At lantic Teach. The young couple spoke their vows before the altar of the church decorated with white gladioli and greenery. A program of appropri ate nuptial music was presented by Mrs. Pridmore, organist. Marcus Marc of Miami served as bestman and the ushers were Charles Walker of Key West and Jerry Pendegast of Miami. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, chose for her wedding a waltz length gown fashioned of lace with net ruffles over white satin. With it she wore a long lace jacket designed with long sleeves, high neckline and flared peplum. Her shoulder length veil of sheer est illusion was held in place by a coronet designed of lace and net ruffles and she carried a colonial bouquet of white bride’s roses with white satin streamers. Her maid of* honor, and only at tendant, Miss Paula Ahern of Pon te Vedra, wore a ballerina length gown of net over taffeta and car ried a colonial bouquet of yellow Toses. The bride’s mother wore a street length gown of bronze glazed shan tung with matching accessories. Her corsage was a purple orchid. Mrs. Trombly chose a gray glaz ed shantung worn with white acces *ories and an orchid corsage. The club room was attractively decorated with white flowers and greenery and the bride’s table was covered with a white embroidered organdy cloth over pink linen. It wa centered with a three tiered, embossed wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom. After spending some time with their guests, the young couple left for a wedding trip to Tampa, Ha vana and Port-au-Prince. Haiti. They are now at home at 831 S. E. 4th Street in Hialeah. Mrs. Solomon is a graduate of Duncan U. Fletcher High school and until recently she was employ ed as a stewardess with the Na tional Air Line with home office in Miami. Mr. Solomon graduated from Gordon Military Academy, Barnes ville, Georgia and is chief agent in operations for the National Air Line. Among the many pre-nuptial courties extended to the young cou ple was the rehearsal supper at the Atlantic Beach home of the bride’s aunt, Mrs. Caroline Clark, on Tuesday evening August 24. The supper table, arranged buf fet style, was covered with an an tique damask cloth and centered with an arrangement of colorful fall flowers. TjsT. .<> 1 x Friday, September 17, 1954 Beta Sigma Phi Exemplar Chapter Adopts Projects For This The first regular fall meeting of Xi Alpha Theta Exemplar chap ter of Beta Sigma Phi was held Monday evening, September U at the home of Mrs. John Spottswood. Miss Elizabeth Aches on, chapter president, presided. Chairmen of the standing committees reported on planning ses sions held with their committee members and projects for the coming sorority year were discussed under the heading of new business. Mrs. Jeff Knight, chairman of the service committee, introduced several service projects for con sideration by the chapter. The members, by unanimous vote, chose as one of their projects the purchase of a resusitator for newborn infants to be presented to the Monroe General Hospital for use in the maternity ward. The second project, also unani mously adopted, is the “Joy for Underprivileged Children Fund.” The purpose of this fund is the purchase of many items dear to the hearts of children, for under privileged pupils in the first through the sixth grades of all schools in the city. A teacher from each school will be selected as sponsor. She will submit lists of items to be pur chased from time to time which will be used for these children. The items will include Audubon Screen Tours, special movies, books, crayons and participation in the designated activities sel ected by the teacher-sponsor. Ways and means committee chairman, Mrs. W. C. Rabon, Jr., presented ideas submitted by the members of her committee for fund raising. Several original ideas were dis cussed and tentative plans were made for affairs which will be announced at a later date. The money raised will be used for the service projects. The year-book under Mrs. Joe Allen will include service and ways and means projects, the social calendar and planned programs. This will be distributed to mem bers and to the International office. Mrs. Ida Gelrich, secretary, pre sented the constitution and by laws for the new chapter and they were unanimously adopted. , The exemplar chapter will enter a decorated car in the motorcade during the ferry fiesta and mem bers will act as hostesses at the open house aboard the ship. After the business session end ed, members remained for a lively social hour during which delicious refreshments were served by the hostesses for the evening. PTA County Council To Meet September 28 Monroe County Council of Pa rents and Teachers will hold their first meeting of the school year in the High School Gym nasium on Tuesday September 28 at 7:30 p. m. This will be an informal meeting with a minimum ob business, most of tha evening being devoted to “Getting Ac quainted" and having a good * time. Holy Name Society Elects Officers; Plans Rosaries At the regular business meeting following Communion Breakfast, the members of St. Mary, Star of the Sea Parish Holy Name Society elected Harry Leuck as president for the forthcoming year. Mr. Leuck is a Lt. Commander at Boca Chica Field and resides at 828 Truman Are. Elected to serve with Mr. Leuck as vice president was Eugene C. Fredette, Sr.; John Anastasia was elected as secretary while Francis X. Delaney was elected treasurer. The “Living. Rosary” held Sun day night in front of the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes was very beautiful and Father Galland, Chap lain at the Naval Station, remind ed the parishoners that October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary and that each Catholic would be asked to say a Rosary a day during the month as a “Crusade for Peace.” Plans have been made to have the “Living Rosary” the second Sunday in October and November and on the Feast of the Immacu late Conception in December as a small tribute to Our Blessed Lady in her Marian year. Honored At Party The commander of the American Legion Post, Norman Kranich, who recently returned from Miami where he was hospitalized, was sur prised by a group of Auxiliary members at informal coffee last Friday. Mrs. Teresa Braxton, president of the Legion Auxiliary arranged the party. Members present were Christine Key, Gloriana Bailey, Rose and Clotilda Hartman, Alice Bush, Ma rian Arango, Doris Edwards, Elsie Reber, Bertha Sloan, Perry Smith and Mrs. Adriana Sands, a mem ber of long standing. The ladies expressed their plea sure at having Mr. Kranich back home, although he will be unable to resume his activities for some time. Navy Wivet To Start Winter Bowling League The Navy Wives Winter Bowl ing League will get underway next week with the first games set for 1:00 p. m. Thursday, September 23, at the Navel Sta tion alleys. Plans were completed for tho winter season at a meeting held at the Naval Station Beech atio recantly.
