of Lansing and Ono-o, has K.it hands at oik
m the eastern terminus. Mr. Inncs, the oiigi
nal contractor, is the actual Superintendent and
will reside at Lansing. Fight months, ll.ev say,
will build the road.
An Old Soaker. I'etwccn nine aad
ten o'clock, on Saturday night, after a spell of
tunshine, a fierce rain-storm came on from the
cast, which continued, with short intermissions,
until Monday morning. All through the weary
Sabbath, the thick clouds impended, and the dri
ving rain kept all within door who were not driv
en abroad by necessity or duty. The ground was
fairly flooded, and Lansing alter the storm, might

Esq., died yesterday, at DeWitt, Clinton county,
having cut his throat on Saturday, a week and
two days previous.
Mr. Adams was 9 prominent mail in the early
settlement of Clinton county, possessing the con
fidence and respect of his neighbors. Ho was
lour times elected Clerk of the eounty of Clinton,
and once Register. He was an aoive Democrat
ic politician. In 1S5C he was tie Democratic
candidate for County Treasurer, but was d. feat

tion line will W put on the route between Cleve
land aud ltuflato, and another bet seen Milwau
kee and Chicago, connecting with one of the
Railroads between Chicago anil Cleveland. Two
entirelv new steamer will be ued in funning
these lines, ntid other! are engaged to ensure
surliiient facilities. We understand the price
will Ik reduced between the points iiumewl to
less than half tho prcaent tailroad rates. The
parties engaged in the enterprise are amply aide
aud fully competent to lender the undertaking a
permanent and suceeseful one. Part ol the iMiats
will bo put on the routes about the 14th of
April, and the lines will go into oper if ion by the
first of May.

Akotiicr Fatal Accident. We are arain
called upon to record another death bv accident,
winch is a third one, in our immediate vicinity
within tho short space of one month. The acci
dent to which wt allude occurred ou the Titta-
bawa&iee river, at the 0-Kow, fourteen miles
tove here, on rnday last week. While a com
pany were engaged for Mr. lUrnard, in driving
logs, eight iiv ii were in a canoe, when it was up

shore in safety. One however, who it is repo.
ted was an excelled swimmer, struck out for a
log floating near the bank which he reached, but

was tlrowned. It is supposed he must have been
seized with a severe cramn. or he would have
been able to have reached the bank, notwith-
itiding the waters were rushing alone with
