franchisement. Early yesterday convergent
lines of Porkers were observed, wending their
reluctant way to the city pound. All day did
the disinterested youth of Lansing pursue the
swine, with the same assiduity with which the
father ol evil followed them of yore, not to drive
them into the sea, but to fob five cents for
pounding them. All day the porcine prison re
ounded with fierce yells, and as the day waned,
and the droves grew scarce', ardent youths, by
the score, were seen following single pigs, to
divide the five rents infinitestually. For this
dty'swoik, tpiit't citizens who have gardens.
