1 th
ic Legislature of Michigan to provide for
the drainage and reclamation of Swamp Lands,
by means of State Road and Ditches, approved
February 11th, 1 S.V.," the undersigned Commis
sioner on the Ionia, Houghton Lake and Mack
inac State Road, w ill proceed to let the work on
said road to the lowest responsible bidder, at
Lansing, in Ingham County, Michigan, on the
23d day of August next, at lo o'clock A. M.
Said road commences at the north-west coiner of
section nineteen, town seven north of range six
west, in Ionia Cojnty, and end at the Strait ot
Mackinac, and on the township line between
ranges three and four west. The entire length
is 212 1-2 miles. It will he let in section to
suit the bidder, hut no bid less tbau one mil
will be considered. It is to be cut out six rods
wide, cleared and grubbed four rod wide, ex
cept w here there are logways, culverts or bridges.
Logways are to be IS feet wide, and tlie logs not
less than eight inches in diameter, and to be si
zed and spotted to place. Pridges and culverts
are to be constructed after the plan and specifi
cations now on fill in the olliee of the Secietary
of State. The road bed is to be turnpike! two
feet higher in centre than at the edge of ditch, s,
and through all wet ground gravelled. For fur
ther specifications iu regard to the superstruc
ture. Contractors are referred to the draft, profile
and report of said Cominissi'iners a adopted by
the Road Hoard at Lansing, Julv 7th, 1 ."'..
Contractors will be paid for constructing sai I
road in swampland, or m money to accrue frou
