Franklin La Rue, for false imprisonment, was tried by a jury yesterday In fore Justice Treat, in the north east part of Ioni sing, when the jury rendered a verdict promptly for the defendant. The jury were from the city, and consisted of the follow ing persons : Charles Foi, E. P. Davidson, G. R. Wm1 worth, II. In gersoll, G. W. Swift, ana A. J. Vic Jo. Death or a Student. EJgar II. King, a student in the Agricultural College, whose father R.II. King, resides in Rives, Jackson Co,, on the plank-road, 9 miles north of Jackson, was seized with fever on Monday, which resulted in inflammation or conjestion of the bowels, of which he died on Saturday night. Ho was ta ken to Rives for interment by his parents, who were present at his death-bed. This is the first fatal case of disease, which has occurred at the College since its foundation. Muri.er Cam: Mrs. ('. M. Wheeler, a resident of Aurelius, in this county, was found dead on her bed on Friday noon, Sept. In. She had been left alone, and was apparently well an hour before Am was found. The Ingham Xnrt states that on "Saturday an impiest was held over her lioxly, ami wil day. UrS. I'lielp. Sackrider, and llalstca 1 performed the surgical operation of opening the body and head in the presence of tho jury, and every indication was death by violence. A Utile girl, daughter of the deceased was piestioned, stating that her mother was lying upon the lounge, that her fath er kicked her, then threw her upon the bed. Dr. Phelps testified that ho found upon exam ination, lit or 12 bruises upon the surface of the body first examined tho abdominal cavity and found upon opening the same, a quart or more of extravasated blood. The abdominal viscera were all in a healthy condition, except the spleen and a portion of intestine. The spleen was rup tured or torn, both on its outer and inner sur face. The attachment of the splenic artery and vein were broken up and a portion of intestiue in that viciuity was slightly engorged. ALso found a bruise internally, immediately opposite the spleen. Found the throracic viscera and brain in a healthy condition. The tdTect of the injury on the spleen and adjacent parts, would be violent internal hemorrhage. Should think the injuries would produce death in from 5 to 6) minutes. Am decidedly of tho opinion, that the injuries to the spleen and adjoining parts, was the. cause of the decease of tho body lie fore us. Pr. C. II. Sackrider sworn, corrolwrated the testimony of Dr. Phelps. Dr. HaWad sworn, corrolioratcd the testi mony of Drs. Phe'ps and Sackrider, and, in addition that he was attending the family Lust week deceased said sho fell across tho fence and hurt her side, but am informed that her injuries were received from a kick from her husband, which she told me afterwards was the cause, and that sho previously told him she fell across the fence, because Wheeler had threatened to kill her, if she told the truth-" The little daughter of the deceased, five yeai old, was not put under oath, but stated that her lather came in and found her mother on the lounge, and kicked her in the side, and mother id "oh dear," and he put her on the bod. Both husband and wife were dissolute and in temperate. The Coroner's Juiy found that she came to her death by violence, and inferentially crim inated the husband.
