Under previous notices the following bills were introduced : House bill No. 88, an act to declare the intent and meaning of section forty of act No. 7, approved March 16, 1870, was read. Under a suspension of the constitu tional rule the bill was read a second time and referred to the 'C"opmittee on Judiciary, and it was ordered tobe print Ied. House bill No. 89. an act to incorpor ate the Bunches Bend Canal and Drain age Company was placed upon its first reading. The constitutional rule bciug supend ed, the bill was put upon its second read ing, and was referred to the Committee on Canals and Drainage, :and it was or dereld to be printed. House bill No. 90, an act to incorpor ate the Mississippi Levee Company, and relative thereto, and providing for the ,on.truetion, repair and maintenance of certain levers by said company, and for complensation therefor by taxes on real :and personal property, and providing for State aid to the said company, was reali. Under a suspension of the constitu tional rule, the bill was read a second time by title. Mr. Dewees, of De Soto, moved its re ference to the Committee on iWays and Means. Mr. Faulkner, of (Caldwell,. moved to amend by referring to the Committee on Lands and Levees. Mr. Dewees, of De Soto, offered an antendmient, to refer the bill to the Com iuittee on Internal Improvements. Mr. Barrett, of Orleans, moved to lay the anmendment offered by Mr. Dewees upon the btable. Carried. House bill No. 93, an act for the re hefof the Female Orphan Society, etc., was put upon its first reading. Under a suspension of the constitn tional rule the bill was read a second time, and referred to the Committee on Ways and Means. The question recurring upon the first part of the resolution, to wit: the dis pensing of the reading of the journal, it was adopted, Mr. Dewees, of De Soto, moved that the balance of the reeolution be laid up on the table, which was lost by a rising vote of 26 yeas to 50 nays.
