Sandwich, N. If., went out to salt
his cattle, and not returning, was
sought fog and found dead, with his
head in a spring. It is supposed t1

Racine, Wisconsin, is much
troubled about the ghost of a lady
who persists in hauntng her We '

in one night lately by dogs.
-A man recently died in Indiana
from a wound received at the battle
of Queanatown, Canada, nearly fifty
nine years ago. An ounce musket
ball, which had remained imbedded'
in the bon's of his face all that
time, ulcerated its way into hii
mouth; inflammation set in. and 'he
(ied in terrible agony.
-A peaceable old man, seventy
years of age, living in Green county,
Ill., was killed in his own house by
two neighbors, narped Moses and
Dock Freer, on Thursday afternoon,
of last week. The Freers killed him
with a hoe. The only cause as
signed for the miurder is an old
neighborhood feud. At last ac
co'unts Mos4es Freer had been ar
rested and lodged in jail; the other
mrurdercr was sti'r at large.
-A singular hitch occurred in a
1divorce.case at Memnphis, a few days
.ago. When the casse was called for
trial, it was found that the husband
was but sixteen, and the wife but
fourteen years of age. As minorsj
can neither sue nor be sued, the
lawyers were in a quandary; but
the Court came to their relief by
appointing a guardian for Qne of the
infants and a next friend for the
other, after. which the trial proceed
ed in due rorm.
