PROSPECTUS OF THE Tn {he endeavor to establish another Republican journal in New Orleans, the proprietors of the Lotosiahian, propose to fill a necessity which has been long, and sometimes painfully felt to exist. In the transition state of our people, in their strugglingefforts to attain that position in the Boäj Politic, which we conceive to be_ their due, itia regarded that much infor znation, guidance, encouragement, counsel and reproof have been lost, in consequence of the lack of a medium, through which these deficiencies might be supplied. We shall strive to make the LouisiaMan a desideratum in these respects. POLICY. As our motto indicates, the Low 8UKIAN shall be " Republican at oil tithes and wider aä circumstances " We shall advocate the security and enjoy ment of broadcivil liberty, the abso lute equality of oilmen before the law, and an impartial distribution of hon or and patronage to all who merit them. Desirons of allaying animosities, of obliterating the memory of the bitter past,of promoting harmony and union among all classes and between all in terests, we shall advocate the removal of all political disabilities, foster kind ness and forbearance, where malignity and resentment reigned, and seek for fairness and justice where wrong and oppression prevailed. Thus united in our aims and objects, we shall "conserve our best interests, elevate our noble State, to an enviable position among her sister States, by the development of her illimitable resources, and secure the full benefits of the mighty changes in the history and condition of the people and the Country. Believing that there can be no true liberty without the supremaey of law, we «hall urge a strict and undiscrimi nating adminis tration of justice. TAXATION. We shall support the doctrine of an equitable division of taxation among au classes, a faithful collection of the revenues, economy in the expendi tures, conformably with the exigen cies of the State or Country aud the discharge of every legitimate obliga tion. EDUCATION. We shall sustain the carrying out of the provisions of the act establishing our common school system, and_ urge as a paramount duty the education of our youth, as vitally connected with their own enlightenment, and the secu ity and stadility of a Republican Government. FINAL. By a generous, manly, ^dependent, an£ judicious conduct, we shall strive to rescue our paper; from an ephem eral, and temporary existence, and establish it npon a basis, that if we sannot "command," we shall at all •vents "deserve" success. MORE IS hXPECTED OF A WATCH, THAN ANT OTHER KIND OF MACHERT. It must not only run ull day, bulaü night ; not only on weekdays, but on Sundays and Holidays. It must run hanging up or doum—upside doum or right side vp. R must keep running when the wearer sits down or stand up, When he walks or rides. In fact, it is expected to do its duty at all times, in every place ancLin »very position. A Genuine Waltham Watch will fulfil all these requirements. I wound once a day, it will faithfully tick for you a hundred and twenty-six million times in year, without even requiring fresh eil all that time. A Genuine waltharq Watch Is ihterchangeable, like a Springfield rifle that is, any part of one Watch is exactly like the same part in another ; and if tea Watches of one grade were taken apart, and the screws, wheeLi, springs, &c., were mixed together, ten watches could be made by putting these parts together again, withuot any reference to their former combination. This is a GREAT ADVANTAGE; For, if any part of a Waltham Watch is injared we can always replace it at a Trifling Expense.
