He died Monday last •*/ his eouiitry home in Drayton IMains, Oak hind county, from The effeoTs of a tliird stroke of paralysis, the firt»t o\« rtaking him in March last. Mr. Randall, who was inherently of a strong artistic temperament, took up the- work in Deth,ii. «j ix* ti ** * 1 a photographic studio and successfully carried on the busi ness for over 30 years, making a handsome competence. For the first 10 or 15 years, he practically made all the photos tn De troit, having a reputation not alone local in its character, but extending ov*-r the United States, for the quality of his work. About 1882, he erected the Randall building facing Grand Clivus park and this was devoted to photographic art. Feeling that he ha.l not been keening pace with the ad vance of the art, he sold out and re tired, spending most of the time since on his Oakland county I’nrra. Mr, Randall was the son of James J. Randall, who come from Now York and settled In Detroit In 1835 He leaves a widow, a daughter of the late Augustus W, Leggett, four sonc and n daughter, Huntley 8., who Is a large mine owner In Mexico; Ferris S. and Allan, engaged also in mining, and live in Monterey; C. C. Randall, Jr., of De troit. and Klrose, who Is with her mother. Deceased wav a brother qf Mrs. Clark Stratton, Mrs. K W. Voight and Mrs. Harold V. Alhertus, of Boston, and of James A.
