Three men were killed, 10 other* in jured, probably fatally, today when two cars which had been hauled up a steep incline plane a quarter of a mile long at the Piedmont * Georg.-* Creek Coal Cos. mine at Pledmout, \\. Va., dashed down the plane and col lided with a string of care at the bottom. The dead are James Condry. Wil liam Hamilton and an unidentified Italian miner. The seriously injured: Kltavor Knight, two Italians, names not oh tainable. Thirteen men were in the two cars that had been hauled to the top of the ateep plane when, in some uuknuvut manner the coupling on the cable slipped and the cars, with their h i man freight, dashed down to the bet tom of lb« road. Several cars were standing at the foot of the iacllue and the cara crashed Into them. Timbers fro inthe wrecked cars ami the victims of the accident . were hurled through the air in all direc tions. Mich., Jan. 25.—(Spe cial). —Charles E Aldrich, ex-city re corder. who was convicted of embez zling $13,000 from the Excelsior Build ing and Loan association, has been sentenced to four years in Jackson prison, Five hundred people signed a petition asking his discharge, as he had paid back $5,200 to the loan asso ciation.
