WHITE SLAVE USE ENDS ■ 11l WEDDING, WITH COURT ATTACHES AS WITNESSES « Isadora Rosenberg Takes Bessie Nathan as Bride and Prose cution Is Dropped LAWYERS GIVE PRESENT «i m District Attorney and Defend ant’s Counsel Unite in Pro viding Marriage Gift Dan Cupid locked horns with Uncle Sim In the United States district court, Friday morning, and the result was a complete triumph lor the little soul-mater. The latter concluded, Thursday night, that the case against Isadora Rosenberg. 22 years old, charged with a violation o#" the so* called white slave law, on complaint of Bessie Nathan, aged 19, had gone ftfr enough, and straightway got busy to effect a reconciliation and mar riage between the young couple. The matrimonial suggestion was eminent ly satisfactory to 'tioth parties, and, after a general dlscuasion of the pro posal among the principals and the legal representatives in the case, in Judge Angell's private office, immedi ately after the opening of the Friday morning session of court, it was ar ranged that the wedding should take place at 1 p. m., and the prosecution dropped. Accordingly, at the appointed time, the pair, their faces wreathed in smiles, faced Justice Command in the home of Mrs, Rose Beilina, No. 47 Wilkios-st., and the solemn words, making them man and wife, were pro nounced. The ceremony was per fumed In the home of Mrs. Selling, because of the home of her sister, Mrs. Sarah Cohen, a warm friend of Bessie, being disarranged, on account of house-cleaning. Mrs. Cohen was at the marriage and was one of the hap piest of the guests, believing that the case could have taken no better turn. She has been one of Bessie's best and truest friends since she came to De limit. Others at the wedding were the groom’s father, a prosperous shoe merchant in Providence, R. 1., where Bessie's folks also live; District At torney Tuttle, who was prosecuting the case against Isadore, and Attor neys Philip McHugh and F. T. Mc- Qann, who were defending the man. Messrs. Tuttle and McHugh gave the young couple a wedding gift, as did also other members of the bridal warty. After the marriage. Mr. and Mrs Rosenberg, accompanied by the law yers in the case, repaired to Judge Angell’s court, where the case against Isadora was formally taken from the jury and discontinued. District Attor ney Tuttle explaining that the com training witness and the defendant had been happily married. The news was a pleasant surprise to the Juror* and they Vtntled broadly as the in formation was given.’ Among the jurors was Philip Breitmeyer. former mayor. Isadore * attorneys, however, were battling hard, and were planning broadside* for the defense in 'their office. Thursday night, when tho change of front wae brought about. l*adore told Mr. McHugh that be was pereouaiiy responsible for the testi mony produced to the effect that he •eras a man of bad habits. "Mr. McHugh.” said Isadore, 'T told those stories against myself, for the purpose of trying to embitter Bessie against ip*. 1 wauled her to leave me, because I didn't have the money for our marriage. I didn't want to get married until I had $1&0. Bo I told Bessie others that I gumbled and kept company with bad women. That’s how witnesses came to give such tes tirnouy. The truth is that I have nev er gone with any woman of question able character, have never gambled or (lone anything morally wrong.” "Then you still love Bessie? sug gested Mr.. McHugh. ‘Yes, I do.” asseuted Isadore. “All right.” replied Mr. McHugh, “the best thing to do is to have a marriage in this case.” Mr. McHugh found that Isadore’s father was willing that his son should marry Bessie, and Bessie also willing ly consented to the proposal. So there was nothing left for Mr. Mc- Hugh to do but get the approval of the district attorney to the match. All MoStri t »-to-Dat« A»»urls* Sc«m>iai»*. t frmmpt Service.
