It is hereby ordained .by the People >f th» City of Detroit: Section 1. Thut sections 10 and 11 of Chapter 58 of the Compiled Ordinances of the City of Detroit ‘ foe the year 1904 be, und they arc lureby amended so as to read as follows: Section 10. All sidewalks shall be so constructed that when com pleted the top surface shall coin cide with the grade of the space between the curb line and the street line, which grade shall be a uniform incline from the curb line toward the street line With a rise of one (1) Inch In every three (3) feet, and on unpaved streets shall conform to a lino established by the City Engineer and to a uni form grade satisfactory to the De partment of Public Works, and shall (when deemed necessary by tho Department of Public Works), ho rehtld to the proper grade when bo established when paving said streets Whenever sidewalks are Ordered on any street where none have heretofore existed, It shall be the duty of the City Engineer to Immediately establish a sidewalk line on suid street for at least a distance that sidewalks have been or are about to be ordered by set ting stakes about 2 ( 'o feet apart (or as near as may be), said stakes to designate the outer edge of the sidewalk from the lot line and the l• cord of the same shall be enter ed in a hook to be kept for such purpose In the Engineer’s office All private driveways crossing the sidewalk space must be construct ed of stone, brlek or concrete from the eurh line to the lot line and placed at a grade to be fixed by the City Engineer The material to be used In the construction of the driveways and manner of their construction to be determined In each case by the Department of Public Works.
