Henry Smith of the Peter Smith ft Son* <|d., and Walter E. Parker, of the Mexican Crude. Rubber Cos. have taken a 99-vear lease on the Bamlet building and the adjoining store, lo cated on the southwest corner of Grand Rlver-ave. and OriswoUl-*t. The amount of the annual rental 1* not made public, but it la understood that it will run about $15,000 a year. The land has a rronta,xe of 100 feet on Grand Rlver-ave., and 60 feet on Qriswold-st. The Bamlet building 1* owned by the Bamlet Building Cos., and the adjoining structures owned by the Bamlet Realty Cos. SOCIAL and PERSONAL As the scope of the work of the Michigan Fresh Air society Is meas ured by the generosity of those inter ested in providing a vacation Ih the country for the children of the poor, the annual appeal Is now made for contribution*, which may be sent to the treasurer of the society, Dr. Will iam H. Browne Last week, twin boys were sent to a farm, not tar from Detroit, where they will remain until September. The mother of ihe children, duriug their happy vacatioii in the country, will have a certain amount of rest herself when freed during the hot days, of the care of the little ones, for she has the bur den of making her own and tholr live lihood. Tho aim of the society is to send little children to farm homes, where they are kept from a fortngiht to a month or two. The smallest con tribution to the necessary fund is wel comed by the society’s officers, who are: President, George N. Brady; treasurer, Dr. W. H. Browne; secre tary, Dr Francis Duffield; assistant secretary, Miss Alice Hewitt. ■—<S>— Miss Elizabeth Jordan, the well known magazine editor and writer, is In Detroit, for rehearsals of her play. “The Lady From Oklahoma,” to be produced by Jessie Bonstelle, in the Garrick theater, the week of July 15. Miss Jordan made the dramatization from her own magazine story, the In cidents of which were founded on a real experience of the authoress. Miss Bonstelle in staging the play, Is giv ing it a fine production. It is said to be a sparkling comedy with nothing of the “wild west” flavor suggested by Its title Miss Jordan, with her secretary, is stopping in the Hotel Cadillac. —— A Fourth of July garden party was given, Thursday afternoon and even ing, on the spacious rear lawns of the following residents of the East Orand blvd., from No. 2076 to No. 2082; William C.
