first ‘‘contradictory testimony”
of the note leak probe came
day when Archie Jamieson,
state department reporter for
the Central Neews, m describ
ing how Lansing gave the news
paper men the confidential tip
on the note, said:
“Secretary Lansing had said
he was giving us the informa
tion because he did not want it
to come back in garbled form
from abroad and 'injuriously at
feet the market ’ ”
Rep. Lenroot then read Sec
retary Lansing's testimony to
the effect that he *’had not had
