institution with the title of "Sallie" ,

life lie was thus affected. At all
times and on all occasions he believ
ed himself to he a dashing beauty, at
whose feet scores of ardent suitors
knelt, nod upon whom society smiled
with favor. Clad in feminine attire,
whenever a ball or concert was given
for the patients ho was the centre of
attraction. At all times he affected
an effeminate voice in conversation,
and acted in every respect like one
of the female sex. The air of a wo-
man never deserted him, and every-
bodv who visited the house eabed on
Sallie" and purchased specimens of
his handiwork, considering it a rare
curiosity as coming from the hand of
a man who considered himself to be a

The most important discovery has
just liee.ii made in the neighborhood
of 1'oiters, in France, where an entire
Gallo-Koinan town has been unearth
ed. It contains a temple 11-1 yards
in length by 70 years in breadth,
baths occupying two hectares, a the
atre, the stage of which alone meas
ures HO yards, streets, houses ami
other buildings covering a space of
nwarly seven hectares, or about 17
acres. The cavitations are being
continued with further success, dis
closing more elilioos,sculpture in the
very best syle, and in good preserva
tion dating, it is thought from the
second century and a quantity of
iron, bronze and eartheru articles.
M. Lisoh, the inspector of historic
monuments, is enthusiastic over this
discovery, and declares that the town
is a little Pompeii in the centre of
France.
