a- ZIMMERMAN Mr. Fink of St. Paul brought his family here to camp at Elk lake. Chas. Jungnickel was in Minneapolis on business Monday. C. A. Stillman and family and Lu cille and Merton Foley camped at Birch lake on Saturday and Sunday. Mrs. Jack Larson of Foley and Mrs. J. M. Johnson of Princeton were in town Thursday afternoon. H. Swanson and wife, in company with Elk River relatives, went to Min neapolis on Sunday. H. Pratt was a passenger to Minne apolis Saturday, returning Sunday. Mrs. W. P. Foley returned to her home in Bemidji on Friday, after a week's visit with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. M. K. Iliff and son, Donald, spent Sunday at the E. H. Foley home. Mrs. M. C. Blanchett returned from Chicago Friday evening. The dance and basket supper at A. A. Iliff's barn on Friday night was largely attended. Fifty dollars was netted, which will go to the Red Cross society. Floyd Neumann was operated on at the Northwestern hospital in Prince ton on Monday afternoon for appen dicitis. Mr. E. A. Nordquist of Bock is as sisting Mr. Berglund in the bank since the resignation of H. Rust, who enlisted in Company of Princeton. We are very sorry to have Mr. Rust leave us as he gained many friends while here, but proud to think that he is loyal to his country. J. O. Stromberg has completed the barn for Mrs. Morrison and will soon begin work on a house for her. B. A. Kettelson, at the age of 39 years, passed away at his home here last Tuesday afternoon, after an ill ness of about seven weeks. Pneu monia was the cause of his death. Mr. Kettelson was in the mercantile business in company with Wm. Heck for about two years and had gained many friends. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the home, Rev. C. Larson of Princeton officiat ing, and burial was in Bellwood cem etery. He leaves two small children, and a wife who was constantly at his bedside, and with the strain and the shock she has been in a serious con dition since his death. She is under the care of Dr. Parsons of Elk River and Miss Bergerson, a nurse. Mrs. Paul Paulson and son, Warren, of Minneapolis, who have been vis iting the past week with Mrs. S. K. Taft, went to Milaca Sunday for a visit at the Nels Olson home. Miss Ellen Johnson of Milaca came here for a week-end visit with her cousin, Mrs. S. K. Taft. George Foley and two daughters, Marie and Bernice, left on Monday of last week for Glasgow, Mont., where he expects to live with Fred Foley on his claim. J. E. Cohoes has sold his interest in the garage to E. H. Foley. BLUE LAKE Mr. and Mrs. Kearsten of Minne apolis, who have been visiting for the past week at the Henry Lemke place, returned to their home the first of the week. Miss Emma Lemke has also been visiting with her brother's folks. William Ott and wife of Zimmerman Mr. and Mrs. E. Griep and family were Sunday guests at the Will Hass home. We are sorry to hear that Frank Reynolds is very low with typhoid fever at the present time. Steve Anderson and Arthur Miller of Crown, with Albert and Charlie Ott of this place, autoed to Mille Lacs lake on Sunday. Miss Bertha Walker will teach in the Walker school the coming year. Mrs. Alden Johnson was a Princeton visitor the first of the week. The Misses Freda and Louise Bartz are visiting their brother, Herman, who is quite sick at the home of his uncle, Herman Stoeckel, in Crown. Mr. and Mrs. Pearlie Mallory of Zimmerman were visiting at the home of the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Walker, on Sunday. A host of Adolph Schlief's friends gathered at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gustaf Schlief, on Sun day evening to help the young man celebrate his birthday anniversary. Roland Clough was calling in this neighborhood the latter part of the week. Henry Grams has returned to the cities for medical treatment. The frequent showers and scarcity of help are delaying the farmers some in harvesting their hay, but they all seem to be improving every sunshiny hour. I iK THREE CORNERS We are sorry to report the death of Mrs. Chas. Murray's mother, Mrs. Loring of California. Mrs. Murray has our sympathy. School meeting was held in districts 46 and 19 on Saturday. In district 46 W. Webb was elected in Mr. Park's place, and in district 19 everyone was satisfied with the former school board. Mrs. E. A. Taylor arrived home last week. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lambert are the proud parents of a baby girl born at the Northwestern hospital. We hear that Johnson Hyndman and Louis Thompson have ordered Ford cars from Odin Odegard. George Townsend and family visited at Nelson King's Sunday. OPSTEAD Mrs. Jonas Grant left on Friday for Onamia, where she will visit her daughter, Mrs. Harry Wilkes. Rev. Larson and family left on Thursday for a two weeks' visit to friends at Enfield. Rev. Larson was pastor of the Baptist church there be fore he came to Opstead. Several of the neighbors here jour neyed to the lake for a picnic on Sun day afternoon. They all enjoyed the picnic, also the rain which took them unawares while bathing. P. J. Anderson and Henning Norman conducted services near Malmo on Sun day. Rev. D. J. Gustafson and family and Miss Bell Hanson of Glory visited friends here one day last week. Will Lofgren and Gustaf Haggberg of Isle attended church here Sunday evening. Misses Esther Lofgren and Alfhild Anderson, who have been ill, are now able to be around again VINELAND Mr. and Mrs. Olof Johnson and son of Rugby, N. D., were Vineland vis itors over Sunday. Mrs. E. E. Dinwiddie departed for South Dakota last Monday morning for a short visit with her son. A. P. Jorgensen and Wm. Anderson were business callers at St. Albins on Monday. W. D. Bartlett and family were vis itors at L. Anderson's last Sunday. Frank O'Neil and family of Aitkin were Vineland callers last Sunday. Mrs. B. A. Johnson, of Minot, N. D., visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Dinwiddie, a few days last week. OXBOW Edward Hall purchased a new Over land recently. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Annis and fam ily accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Val Mott on their trip to Mille Lacs lake Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Hall visited, at the Johnson Hyndman and Frank Smith homes on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. F. Whitcomb called at Oliver Dibblee's on Monday evening. Marshall Hall is helping Johnson Hyndman. At the school meeting in district 32 last Saturday evening Mrs. Leon Annis was re-elected treasurer. Should an elderly person or some small children be on the road it would be impossible for them to get out of the way in time. Such persons as these should not be allowed to drive any thing that travels faster than a yoke of oxen. Miss Esther Lofgren went to Isle on Saturday for a few days visit with friends. Hartman and son, George, were entertained on Sunday afternoon at J. Seifert's. Mrs. L. Gennow, Arvel Gennow and Mr. and Mrs. H. Reiman spent Sunday afternoon at Aug. Bauman's. Miss Margaret Heruth and Fred Boehm called at J. Vernon's at Brick ton on Sunday evening. Henry Stellow passed Sunday at Aug. Cordes'. The Greenbush baseball boys crossed bats with the Green lake boys on the local diamond Sunday. The Greenbush team won by a count of 6 to 4. Otto and Olga Reiman spent Friday evening at A. Wilhelm's. OFFICIAL Proceedings of Board of County Com missioners, Mille Lacs County. Auditor's Office, Mille Lacs County, Minn. Princeton, July 16th, 1917. Board of county commissioners of Mille Lacs county met pursuant to adjournment with Chairman Thomas presiding and all members of the board present except Commissioner Cater. Meeting called to order by the Chairman at 11 o'clock a. m. The school petition of R. VanAlstine ask to be set off from school district No 40 and attached to school district No 22 was rejected by the board at the petitioner's own suggestion. In the matter of the O. A Benson school petition the board made and unanimously adopted the following final order to-wit: Whereas, the petition of O. A Benson, a freeholder of school district No 23 in this county, with the approval of the County Super intendent endorsed thereon, representing that he is the owner of the lands hereinafter de scribed, which are situate in said school dis trict, and that said lands adjoin school dis trict No. 11, and asking that his said lands may be set off from said district No 23 to said distict No 11 for the following reasons: "One mile nearer to school house in dis trict No 11. Also that my children are at tending school in district No 11 and must pay tuition." as presented to the county board of this county, at a session of said board held on the 26th day of June, 1917, for the action of said board thereon and, whereas, it was thereupon ordered by said board that a hearing should be had on said petition at a session of said board commencing on the 16th day of July, 1917, at the county auditor's office in the village of Princeton in said county and, whereas, it was further ordered in and by said order that notice of the time and place of such hearing be given by posting a notice of said hearing in three public places in each of the school districts to be affected by said petition, and by serving upon the clerk of each of said school districts, by mail, a copy of said notice, at least ten days before the time appointed for such hearing, and by giving two weeks published notice thereof in the Princeton Union, a duly qualified newspaper printed and published in Princeton in said county, and whereas, at the said session of the said board, commencing on said 16th day of July, 1917, proof of the due publication, posting and service of said notice of hearing as therein directed and required, more than ten days prior to said last named date, having been made and filed, said petition was publicly read and considered by the board, with every thing which was said by said interested par ties for or against granting the prayer of the petitioner and being satisfied from all the evidence produced at such hearing that the allegations of said petition are true and said board being of opinion that the prayer of said petitioner should be granted, it is hereby or dered and determined, that the following de scribed lands owned by him to-wit: Southeast quarter of southeast quarter of section 32, township thirty-eight, range twenty-seven, be and the same are hereby set off from school district No. 23 to said school district No 11 and said lands are hereby made, a part of said last named school district for all purposes whatever. (Official Seal.) The resignation of Dr. H. P. Bacon, as county coroner, due to his having joined the medical corps of the S. regular army, was submitted to the board and accepted. Dr. H. C. Cooney of Princeton was then unanimously appointed by the board as County Coroner to fill the unexpired term of Dr. H. P. Bacon, resigned. Commissioner Cater came in at 11:15 a. m. and took his seat on the board. The petition of John Nyquist and others for the repair of county ditch No 5 was then taken up by the board and was on motion laid over until 2 o'clock p. m. On motion board took a recess until 2 o'clock p. m. Board reconvened at 2 o'clock p. m. All members of board present. The ditch No 5 repair proposition was again taken up by the board and on motion same was again laid over until the next meeting of the board.
