They "led me twice across the room; I sat dowo with feelings of happiness that I never befure experienced; the idea that I was once again to be restored to die v. orld ran through my frame like an electric shock. My family surrounded me in tears of joy, and the excitement so completely overcome ru? lliat 1 latnieu. ine same uay i wti ed three time1 across the floor, again bearing a little weight at each time on ray feet. I then used crutches for a few days, w'ten my strength had so far become re-eatablished, that J cou!d cross the floor without t ie leas: aid. My advancement from this time has almost been incredible; 1 can walk two Hundred yards and back with ease, and my children, (the bedrid are often bless-d like me with aara dozen) have been so overjoyed that tney could scarcely eat or sleep, and Mrs. Corning seems to feel half a score of years younger herself. I have now every confidence that I am a well niair. I think this article is the most extraordinary of any I ever heard of, and if it not extensively made known to the public, I think the proprietors are very culpable. If vou know the persons in ew York selling it, you had better ?hov them this letter and let them refer to you. or publish this if you think it would aid the dis tressed. Komember me to your family. Yours, very truly. LTHAN C. CORNING. For saleat Malone &. Farrell's Drug store, N East corner public square Holly Springs, bep S.1LE OF LOTS IN THE TOWN OF COMMERCE. riTIIE undersigned commissioners, appointed by X the Hernando Rail Road and Banking Com pany vill, on Monday the 29th of October next, proceed, to s-eil at public sale, the very valuable property of the" town of COMMERCE, oa the Miss issippi river, well known as Bridges and Fletch er's Point. Commerce is located on the bank of the Mississippi, about 40 miles below Memphis, 52 miles west of Holly Springs, and 22 west of lltrnaudo, the county site of DeSoto. In calling the attention of the public to this point we think it anneeessary, and would be superroga tory tu indulge in the too common practice, on such occasions, of empty boastings and fictitious descriptions. We Tvould only say that the town Met in question, we believe to be the most eligible end convenient that can Le obtained for North Mssiseippi; that it is a beautiful and healthy situ ation; in evidence ot which, persons are now resi ding upon the place who nave lived therefor the last 12 rears and whose robust health seems to warrant them a life uf half a century to come. This town we think offers to capitalists or enter prising foreigners the means of sure speculation; for it is surrounded and governed by such circumstan ces as must impel it to onward improvement. It has the promised support of a vast extent of back country, wtich for its productiveness, and the en terprize of its citizens, is not surpassed even in the far-famed valley of the Mississippi. It is in the road of the traveller from Carolina, Georgia, and Alabami, whose spirit of enterprise may lead fcim to the far west, or to the great emporium of the outb; and whilst it has the promise of a Rail dioad, under charter of the State Legislature, lea- llnr dirccuv from it into the rich interior, by the river, it has open commerce with the world. We inv ite foreigners o visit Commerce andjdecide for themselves, and to our immediate fellow-citi zens. e be, leave to say, that in calling upon you for your favor and patronage to this enterprise we do not address vour sympathy or liberality; we appeal to your interest and patriotism; we deem it out of place, and superfluous to attempt argument to convince you that it is for our individual ami common iutereat to -have a town of exportation and trade within the borders of our own State. It is not a question fur argument, bu a fact made plain. by even volumes of proofs in very one's experi- eiice. l ne soumern portion oi our great state nas a growing ana njurismng city ai wnica to export and trade; tiie middle 1ms equal facilities, whilst the North, e iual in natural strength and resources to either, is yet tributar to Tennessee. The object of our enterprise is to give to North Mississippi equal advantages wnk the middle and southern parts of the S ate, and if our fellow-citi zens but will it, and wili give us the riga. mad of I 11 i . . t . . . Holly Springs, September 15, 133S. 6t PROSPECTUS OF THE aiississlppt Justice and Constables Guide. TIIE scarcity of the revised Code and sheet acts of the Legislature, and the difficulty with which the Justices and Constables of this State supply themselves, and the jreat want of such a work, as a Justice ot the Peace on mv own part, has induced me to offer to the Justices and Constables of this State a digest of the Laws m force, in reli tion to their duties etc., together with a com plete set of forms of Deeds, Will, Bonds, Acknowledgements of Dower, and other instruments. To place such a work into the hands of our Justices and Constable?, would save much trouble and time to the officers for whom the work is intended, As the law now stands, it is with the utmost difficulty to be ascertained w hether a written law is in force or not, which often misleads us. The work will be published in one duode cimo volume, law binding, comprising from 230 to 300 paes, with a digested index of the contents, giving a condensed statement of ail it contains. Oh. that I teas a bank director, a bank direc tor's son, or even a batk director's dog, hotc much better I tcould fare. Permit me, Mr. Editor, to express a few sentiments through your very useful journal, in relation to monev matters as thev now stand in this State, in relation to mechanics labour; and should I differ with you in opin ion, I trust you will correct me, and should our ultimate opinion differ, you will certain ly do me the justice to set it down as an honest difference at last. So far a my knowledge extends in rela tion to the-'general transactions of them, I have universally found that the" men who labor for a living are worse treated in rela tion to their just compensation, than any other part of any community in which 1 have ever lived. If a mechanic builds a house, makes a coat, shoes a horse, or doe any thing else for a customer and presents his bill for payment, the customer nine time? out of ten, gives him the worst money he can get, if he - has or can get one kind of money worse than another; and if the honest mechanic says any thing about the treat ment, he is turn-1 ofT with a sneer, with "its the best lcan you" or, you dont like it, dont ta knowing at the same time that the ma thy jsseaking to, is bound to have the sma. he has earned in some shape or othc sup port of his family, or for the paytrSt of his hands, and. therefore takes advantage of his circumstances and prevents him from rising above his servile necessity. If there is one mean act meaner than ano ther it is for a man to Jew his mechanic down to the lowest cent-for his labor, and while the mechanic works the very sou! almost out of his body, the employer Lakes river money oa Saturday morning and buys Brandon or some other worthies rags at about 25 pr err. d?osnt and ia the i . -rer r r 4 I It I vwisi n t ,--i-i lnfKi.,..l, , J.. y-.iic cr iraa 3 szore w:ia rtas p-xi x:t utts .
