There are no star names tn this production but they aren't missed ‘The Window*’ Um't overly long, but every minute of it keeps your attention riveted to the screen. Running through the pattern of suspense is the sordid bockground of life in the New York tenement district. I found two very minor technicalities. In one scene, Tommy lies In his bed during a sweltering New York night He to clothed in neat-looking pajamas. Not even all the best people wear pajamas in New York on a sweltering summer night, let alone tenement kids. The acene might have carried a touch more realism if the kid bad been pictured as sleeping in his peejay trousers with a bare upper. Also, fire escapee in tenement districts on sweltering nights are usually pretty well populated, aren’t they? But these two minor Items can be overlooked when one considers that the tenement at mosphere was excellently maintained throughout. The dark halls, narrow, rickety stairs, dreary apartments are reproduced with real ism. And New Your housing conditions get an additional slap with the authentic reproduction of the burned out tenement used sa a “playground" by Tommy and his friends. “The Window" la one of the jewels that come out of Hollywood every once in awhile.
