That the Afro-American can usual ly hold his own when given st fair chance was again demonstrated last Friday night when Larry Temple, the Afro-Amerieah middle weight- of New York, knocked out Billy Stift of this city in the second round of the six round fistic contest at the Transport Club. Stift was knocked down four times before he threw up the sponge. Last' Monday evening, November 17th, the "Comedietta," "Who is to Win Him," was given at Grace Presby terian church under the direction of Mrs. Dr. G. C, Hall to a crowded house'. All of the characters were well played, especially the parts played by Mr. I. N. Dunlap, Miss Blanche Wright and Miss Lillian Beasley. The two solos sang by Miss Beasley were well-applauded. L. Charlie Jordan, with the second vice president of the El Paso & S. W. R. R., has gone to- Ejf Paso, Tex., on a three weeks trip. ^i-*A The genial "Bud" Lewis of the Big Four, mourns the loss of his Sunday "lay-over."
