There were a number of outside bets on the occasion and at the close Capt. R. offered to bet $5 that he could swallow ten dozen more eggs, but no one cared to accept the wager. —Lord Milton, eldest son and heir of the Earl of Fitx-William, and one of the most insignificant of all the young lordlings of England in appearance as well as in ability, is now a member of Parliament, and about •to be married to a niece of the Marquis of Donegal anda daughter of Lord Edward His lordship spent a few days in St. Cloud a couple of years since, while on his way to Red River, and narrowly escaped a sound thrashing.
