The quiet home-wedding which united Mrs. Lillian C. Madison and Dr. A. URIEL Tuesday inornuw Jan. IS. at the residence of the bride in Macon, ev. Mr. Johnson officiating, was quite a surprise to the. many friends of both the bride and groom. Only a few intimate friends of the couple were ware that t they had ideas that were identical, one of which was that the term ' 'tingle blessedness' ' Is a mislead ing, altogether false phrase, that the conditions therein should not be toler ated, and that they were soon to brush the cobwebs from the wedding bells and give them a oocasion to ring forth mer rily and happily.. Everyone' who was aware of the approaching nuptials swore every one else who was let Into the secret, and how well it was kept was attested by the surprise the news created when it became known Tuesday morning. The wedding being aqniet home affair, no cards .were issued for the ceremony, simply verbal invitations to be present, yet the room was crowded with the in timate friends and relatives of the couple. After the ceremony Dr. and Mrs. Knel left on the north bound M. &0. train for Bristol, Teun., to visit a daughter of the bride, who is at school at that place. They will uli-o visit St. Louis and other northern cities and will be gone about two weeks. Time must go by and the best wishes possible for this happy couple is thnt the garland Time entwines may have its verdure ever new and that the blossoms to be gathered may be for the garden where neither frost nor blight ever eu tur. There is weeping and wailing among the far sex in Macon, the occasion of all this grief being the sale by two Irish Indies, "just from tho old country" of "genuine Irish hund-uiado lace of their own make, ' ' an article so flue, according to their story that it took sev eral days to make a yard. From a rough estimate of the - 'genuine Irish hand -made lace" known to have been sold in Macon, aud amount of work said to have expended ou the said lace, the ladies disposed of about forty -five years of arduous labor for $100, more or less . The only consolation the ladies are getting out of their ' 'bargain' ' is the fact that it was neither spectacles nor watches . ' ' A Worthy Object of Charity. Macon, Miss., Jan 15, ' 97.
