His remains were interred in the Kob- inson graveyard on Wdniday after noon ut 2 o'clock. He was a native of this county, hav ing been horn near where he died nearly seventy-five years ago. A negro named Locket, from Mr. C. S. Field's place in Southwest Noxubee cut and seriously f ounded last Fri day while returning home .from the hanging. The cutting W: s done by a man named Edmonson, who lives in Oktibbeha. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. The difficulty occurred near the overhead bridge. What brought about the difficulty is not inown, but it is said that Edmonson and two companions were in an intoxi- ated condition and fighting humor and tne cutting was without provocat.on. it was thought at nrst that the negro would die, but we understand that he now has a fair chance to recover. Dave Dtigan, eighty odd years of age, was found dead on Thursday morning last in the old jail, where he had been ilaced on the' Saturday before a raving maniac. Like all eases ol that kind he leveloped wonderful strength, and it took five men to put him ir. his cell af ter he was brought to the jail. He continued to rave for several davs but calmed down a day or two before his death. lie seemed to be in his usual condition Wednesday night, but staled to the jailer, when he took him his sup per, that he would die during the night. On Thursday morning, when the jailei carried him his breakfast, he was found silting in an upright position. on a window sill, with his leet. on tne lloor. He had been raving for a week but he evidently died without a strug gle. - The coroner held an inquest and thi jury rendered a verdict that became U his. death from natural causes.
