We bdieve it is vciy generally
believed now that the wheel nf
the tar did nut run over nor touch
his person anywhere. The only
visible sign of the ell'oct of a
wheel is on the heel of his left
shoe, and this was caught by the
wheel while he was being drawn
out. The theory is and we think
il the correct one that Mr. Hal
lentine had stepped to the ground,
and, miscalculating the speed of
the train, was thrown down vio
lently and the step of the next car
or the boxes of the wheels struck
and broke his legs. We think it
was done by the step, lor if it had
been done by the boxes, it seems
almost impossible that he could
have been drawn away before the
wheel would have crushed his en
tire f:ot instead of the small end
of his shoe-heel. Thor.c who drew
him out say they were so power
fully excited that they can hardly
remember what did occur, but Mr.
Nichols and Mr. Goodman are
both, we believe, thoroughly sat
isfied now, as is every one, that
the wheels did not pass over him.

We had quite an interesting ser
mon on Sunday from Rev. H. J.
Smith. There was a fair attend
ance of young people, but the mid
dle aged and older were absent,
and why? Who can tell why
there is so litlhc interest manifested
on the part of older people in re
gard to preaching? That there is
a lack of interest, is very plain to
all, We only have preaching now
two Sundays in the month, by Mr.
Richie on the first and Mr. Smith
on the third, and it seems to m;
that till wmiM avail themselves of
the opportunity to attend Divine
worship, especially when the
weather is fair and pleasant.
