- Rev. George Nichols wns born In Dorchester county, Maryland, May 16th, 1834, and was kidnapped in Mfirch, 1850, and brought to New Orleans, La., and sold to Mills H. McGee, in Bolivar county, State of Mississippi, and served him thirteen years a slave. May 18th, 18G3, I enlisted in the army and served 3 years and 3 months a soldier In the 54th U. S. C. T. in Company B, and was discharged August 27th, 18GG, and December, 1SG8, I enlisted in the Arkansas State Militia Guards and was commissioned Second Lieu tenant of Co. B. Justice of the Peace for many years, and a Notary Public two years, and a member of the Republican County Central Com mittee for 1G years, in Phillips coun ty, Arkansas. Moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma, March, 1891; was elected a member of the City Council April, 1000, for two years, and was District Grand Master live years of the G. U. O. of O. F. of Oklahoma. Remem ber, I voted for delegates to Consti tutional Convention in Arkansas in 18GS and in 1S74. Remember in 1S74 we failed to elect enough Re publicans, and we went down under the Democratic Rule. Let us awake and see that there is enough Republicans eluded to the Consti tutional Convention from Oklahoma and Indian Territory to frame a con stitution that will be an honor to us and after generations to come after us.
