For ten or twelve years a new form of
disease has been slowly but steadily
spreading in southwestern Norway, and is
now reported to be extending its ravsges with
increasing energy. On the stalk of the plant,
which is the part affected, Herr Anda has discovered
a fungoid growth, which is successively
white, greenish and black in color, and
which attains the size of a small bean. The
development of the fungus causes the interior

when whole fields of potato plants are often
quickly reduced to the condition of withered
straw.

The "solid" man arose with a heavenly smile
on his face, shook the dust of the room from
off his feet, and left the meeting to run itself.
