protection of San Francisco Harbor, at a

The Dynamite Gua.
Lieutenant Zalinskl announces a new
series of experiments with his dynamite
gun, to occur soon. He says: "I will
probably fire one or two full-caliber
shells, containing 600 pounds each of explosive
gelatine; eight sub-caliber shells,
each containing 200 pounds of dynamite,
and several blank shells of different calibers.
These experiments are official, in
connection with the acceptance of

was appropriated for ttie construction
of nine pneumatic dynamite guns.
It is proposed to build one eight-inch
gun and eight fifteen-inch guns. Two of
the guns of the latter class will be
