Personally appeared before me, the tin-,1 dcnigned, nJustice of the Peace in tltld‘ for said county, the undcriuciitioaed demo cratic voters of said county, who, being ouch first. duly sworn, say that the Deuio‘i‘ erotic voters of Pierce county, in pursuance of u call by the Democratic Committee of said county, met in convention for the pur pose of electing six delegates to represent, said county at the Territorial Conrontioni to be held at Drew’s Wilson the 11th day of May next ; that the chairman put cer tain questions to the house after being set-. tied and determined by a majority of tliel legal voters then and there assembled; that the chairman refused to allow an up peat from his decision ; that. when the house was divided, the chairman and clerk did both maintain that the ayes had a mn—, jority, when in fact they were in the ini-i nority ; and that the minority of said free and independent democratic voters of said lcounty did over-ride the majority, and were‘ sustained by the chairman, thus trampling over our just rights, ullll grinding as to itie very dust; therefore, as tree American eiti zeal, we solemnly protest against the action of the Democratic convention liehl in Stella coom, for the county of Pierce, on the 25th day of April, 1857, whereof tlugli Patter son was chairman and John .\I.
