Oregon during the entire week. Mr.
James L. Enos of Cedar Rapids has
had charge of the Institute. He ie
an adept at the profession, and
though differing with him politically,
cannot refrain from wishing that he
might bo our next State Superintend
ent. His idea of the duties of the
profession of teaching, his pungent
oriticism of authors, and his thorough
•contempt for the text-books intro
duced into the state through ignor
ance or corruption suits us to a dot.

new and important arrangements will be
made immediately, upon the Stage routes
from Cres* to Owatona minn., and from
Austin minn., to Waverly Iowa. Stages
will leave Crcsco on the arrival of the east
ern train arriving at Owanatona the next
day in time for the train upon the minn.
Central for St. Paul. It is the prupose to
leave Waverly on the arrival of the trains
arriving at Austin in connection with the
stages from Crcsco, returning over that
road and meeting the train bound cast
from Waverly—at the same time running
from Austin to connect with the trains on
the McGregor Western, east.
in. O. Walker's stages are nowruntri
weekly by mr. Cameron, from Cresco to
Austin minncsota, VIA, Lime Springs and
Leltoy. With tho now arrnngment supe
rior facilities will be openend up to the
traveling public, going either south or
least. The travel from St. Paul and all
