The Uait-road Tax.
Tho vote on the rail-road tax on
Monday resulted three to one in
favor of the tax. The vote would
seem to indicate anxiety for the road
at Creseo. The* apposition to the
tax, was alSD earnest au«l embraced
nemly tdl the farmers of the town
ship. If however the road should
really give us a competing Hue it
will bo worth to the farmers and
people of Creseo many times its cost
0 them. Hut the country has been
-o often deluded with line promises
Horn railroad agents seeking aid
torn the people in behalf of their en
terprise, that they have veiy little
onlldenee in promises. The coun
try needs the road, and if it pools
vlth other roads, or if pooling is a

vho really staud pledged to prohibit

I ts platform, but really we have less
alth in the promise being kept than
ve have iu the promise of a railroad
irporatlon. If the road is not built
