the alleged treatment of Kansas prisoner*
by the rebels, and oaastoitting letters
from thA Secretary of War to Hie Com

Gen. Halleck says: "I have no informa

taken prisoners of wmr have been treated
by tbs enemy any way different than vol
unteers from any other State."
He also states that tbe general in com
mand of the department of which .Kansas
forms a part knows of no difference made
between Kansas and other prisoners.
The Commissary Genera) of prisoners
says There is nothing in the k-eoords
of this offioe to show the manner in which
the wounded and dead soldiers ha,ve been
treated on tbe battle fields by the rebels,
nor is there anything to show that the
Kansas volunteers have beea put to death
on being taken prisoner. Only fifty-eight
enlisted men of tbe Kansas regiments can,
be found on the rccord as having beea
delivered on parole by tbe enemy."
