taining to the Wool Growing interests
of the community and to petition Cob*
gress to increase the dutx on imported
wool.
On motion, Dr. G. W. Arms, O. H. P.
Buchanan, Dr. W. Bird, Cap*. Zollars,
H. Swan and J. B. Shaw were appointed
to draft resolutions for the action of the
meeting.
After retiring for a short time they re
ported the following, which wera-tdopted:

formation of County Societies in the dif
ferent Counties, as auxiliary to this asso
ciation.

at Fairfield, Iowa, May 26th, 1864, com

On motion it was resolved that the pro
ceeding of this meeting be published in
the Homo Jotfrnal, Mt. Pleasant, with
the request that other papers friendly to
the cause copy it.
On motion, Capt. Z dlars of Mshasba,
W. Langen of Wapello and il. McGtffin
of Jefferson, were appointed a committee
to procure a speaker for the meeting.
Resolved, That a copy of these pro-i
ceedings be sent to the Iowa Homestead.

—In 1858, a gentleman, walking on the
outer end of Meigg'e wharf, had his bat
blown off his head ly a summer afternoon
