IT NOW HAS MANY USES One Woman [n Speaking of Her Tel-1 ephone Refers to At Clarinda recently the Iowa Tele phone changed from an old system to the latest and best scientific equip ment and the Clarinda Journal in re porting the incident, after making de tailed explanation of how the work IT was accomplished and the rapidity ofj the workmen, sermonizes upon "the j" use of the telephone as follows: !jj The telephone has long passed th-2 stage when it was a luxury to be en joyed by the well to do and has be come a necessity not only to public institutions and private enterprises but to the home as well. The telephone of today is a servant to the city and the people and a very useful servant it is. Every public building Is equip ped with telephones which care al ways busy taking care of the city's affairs. We find them in all the de partments of the town hall, in the Are $ department's headquarters through-1 out the city, in the schools and hos-1 pitals, the police department, and in the office of the water and light com-1 panies and these public institutions would be at sea if their telephone con nections were cut off for an 1 iur. While the city finds it an absolute necessity, the average citizen finds it Just as essential to his welfare. This Is evidenced by the large number of 11 'phones which have been installed dur lug the past year in private homes. A few years ago if we found it nec essary to call a physician it meant a was^ not "in ^hen™'wf°r th* and still cannot find time to go for it. Without a 'phone we have to get alon? without it. but with one we can call up and have the goods delivered to us without losing any time. In case of rain or bad weather the telephone proves to be the house-wife's best friend. One woman in speaking of her telephone calls it "Her friend on the wall." Our most distant friends are always within call and in case of need can be summoned at a minute's no tice. As a social aid the telephone is society's best friend. Every day in vitations are issued over a 'phone and arrangements made for these delight ful informal parties and gatherings. Only re- uable time and allowing us to remain About the size of your shoes, it's at home. We find we need something some satisfaction to know that manv from the store or market in a hurry The business man alreadv knows ,, the value of a telephone to him and it Is not a question of having a telephone tage of a telephone line to him. As a! business proposition he finds that the Success and Health for Men Health and strength long un known to the debilitated man will quickly be felt surging in rich, red blood through the art eries and veins, causing life's greatest ambitions to be more keenly enjoyed, giving greater physical energy and brain pow er, while adding a certain per sonal magnetism responsible for success in these days of the survival of the fittest, and with out which no man is capable of winning in the race of life, love and fortune. It has long been known that certain vegetable extracts, oils and vital min eral elements of nature, proper ly blended and mixed, may not only add years to the average life, but add that which is yet greater—the ability to succeed in all undertakings and to en joy 'all of nature's great ambi tions through the certain power of physical-mental magnetism. Those who lack these qualities of health and magnetism will be interested in knowing that a well-known medical ex pert and writer on medical topics gives in a recent article the secret which enabled him to obtain fees ranging from $3,000 to $10,000 for treating the suc cessful men of Wall street fame and millions.
