Paul wfcpat was strong, but sales were mostly by samples, and there was not a great deal doing. In corn, trade was light. Dry corn was strong'y held, but for new corn there was a light demand and it was weak at quotations. Oats were in good demand with a fair business. Nothing was doing in barley. Rye was quiet. Ground feed strong and firm. Altogether the market as it appeared on the board yeslerdiywas about steady. At 11 o'clock there was a general recovery of J^@'K per cent., the latter for Wabash, Bt. Louis & Pacific preferred. There has been a decided falling off in foreign buying the past day or two. It is practically certain that the bear party has sold a line of New Jersey Central, Waba?h, Bt. Louis & Pacific preferred, Denver & Rio Grande, Michigan Central, Missouri Pa cine and other stocks, and it is their undoubt ed intention to attack each. This was followed by another decline of 14®\% per cent., in w"hich Denver A Rio Grande, New Jersey Central, Wabasb, St. Louis A Pacific preferred and Lake Shore were the greatest sufferers, but subsequently the market became t'trong with an advance of HQ\% percent., Wabash,Bt. About noon there was a decline of 3{®3 per cent., Manhattan Elevated and Missouri Pacific leading.
