The following resolutiou wa3 then intro duced to the caucus: Resolved, That this club ho!ds that it is ex pedient to couainal^ a candidate far this con gressional district. Th~ resolution elicited much diicus<iou. Rev. W. W. Sitterlee ar..-e to euj-taiu the resolution. He urged thit the oft repeated statement that congrfsa h.td nothing to do with prob.inHon tion question was a mistake. He Btattd that tbe condition of the prohibition movement in all parts ol the county looked to national politics. S^akine of local politics he state* that the Prohibition ii*ts could not vote for Dr. Ames, for he neither claimed that he was a temperance man or cared to encourage pro hibition. But, said the speaker, if it comes to the matter of deciding between Dr. Ainei?, who goes aboara WashburnV steam boat onLake Minnetonka, and drinking liquor, and the man who owns that floating saloon, there whs little choice. The Republican party had declared that the temperance people had no right to amend the constitution because the Republican party is a whi6ky jarly. Every time the temperance people hare asked the Republicans for any re cognition of their rights they have been snubbed, aDd then the ones who did the snub bing came around before election aad ask them to lick their spittle by voting their ticket. I> Emervwas free to corfess that he had a personal regaid, for re speciality, but, al though ne oppoted a nomination be pledged himself io stand by the decision of the conveu {ftn, and branded all those who took part in the convention and who would after affiliate with the Republican party as cowards and un worthy the respect of their fello-v citisjss. Dr. Philips was the next speaker. He said the temperance people had never received any recognition in Minneapolis until last spring. He favored a congressional Domination. Tbe Republicans who had promised to assist the prohibitionists if they nominated no con gressional ticket were not to be trusted. It was a matter of principle. It would require a mircroscope to detect the difference between the two great parties. Every dog has its d*y, and both will soon see theirs. He advised Dr kiuiery to go home and take a dose of alue*. C. A. Loutuosrry was somewhat puzzled. He thought there was a question as to the ad visability of making a . ongn-ssional ticket. His views he did not think necessary to ex plain. But hj T*as certain that running a congressman would defeat the ends of the party, if \tashburn was defeated through the teniperau c movement the legislature will refuse to enlei tain the bill the temperance people propose to introduce next winter. Tbe statements uiaue by Mr. Loubs berry brought Dr. Phillips to his feet again, and for five minutes argued eloquently against the Re put lican party. Mr. Farr created a laugh by referring to Col. King and his tx>licy last spring, and by uuntioning Col. King's celebrated temperance bj tech. Aft-T au hour's discussion of the question tLo meeting was adjourned with the under sttnding that a full ticket should be placed in nomination. Stoired Away . Tee inicuer io which It came about is as follows: He budged up to that point where he cousititred cicneelf the equal of the whole police f»rcc. He went into the (i lady hotel, on S.coad avenue south, and at irm|ited to raise a rumpus. A temperauce lecture was delivered last night at thn M. E. Church by Mrs. Tnyng of Massachusetts, and there is one thing most evident, the remarks were the best delivered here for some time. Among tbe many things she advised '"the people to elect men to the legislature that will be true," but she was in terrupted by a i>rolher, who &aid, "they all (the voters) lie so you can't trust them." There has been a good deal of thrashing done in this vicinity, and, as anticipated by your representative," wheat is yielding from dghken to twenty bushels per acre and even more.
