Police Reynohls is in Salt Lake and will
prolbably take a good look at the wily old
sneak thief and his pal.
Morant is said to blie a noted Chicago
thief and one of the smoothest in his
line of business inll the United States.
Several Pinkerton men will be in Butte
during the meeting of the congress and
if Cannon and Moran turn up here, the
city jail will hold thei at least a few
days.

New York, August i4.--The board of
classification of the United States board of
general appraisers have announced a dcci
,ion in a case described as "Holy water
taken from the spring of water at Lourdes,
France, which is collected in bottles and
brought to this country." This water was
assessed at 24 Cents per gallon, with one
cent per pound utpon bottles.
The importer, William Turves, declared
that the duty s.iuoll be assessed at the
rate. of io per cent ad valorem, the decision
hIhling the fluid to be mineral water.
lThe board holds that natural water is a
cruder material. .ss the protestant has
faihd to make this claim the protest is
ovcrruled anid the money will have to be
pai in this instance and in case of future
sh;il.ments of holy water it will come in
ft ce.
