Harris and a com panion were taken in last night on a charge of having stolen a watch and chain from a man they met while making the rounds last night. bHarris and the other man admitted having the watch, but said they were only joking. Later in the evening the watch and chain were dis. covered in the toilet room. A search was made of the accused young men a few minutes after they went to the toilet room and the timepiece ,vas found. They then Insisted that they were merely joking when they took the watch. The stolen brticles were not valuable, but the two young nmen went to jail for the theft just the same. ifhey were later released. Mentrum, to decide the contest, which will be closed October t, at 6 o'clock p. m. Photographs are to be left at our establishment and will be kept on ex hibition until the close of the contest. Anaconda, Sept. 7.-In the social as well as the commercial life of Anaconda the opening of the Copper City Commer cial company for a season is a great event. Accordingly the announcement printed today in the advertising columns of the Inter Mountain that the fall opening of the big store will take place tomorrow and Saturday will be hailed with joy. Fisher's orchestra will be in attendance on Friday afternoon and Saturday night, the new goods will be elaborately dis played, the store will be handsomely deco rated and everything will be done to make the guests of the store those days comrn fortable and happy. Saturday evening the curtain at the Margaret theater, where Warde anltJames are to produce "Alexander the Great," will not go up until 9 o'clock, tnus permitting the people to stay and see the opening that evening at the store. SAID SUNSET WAS BAD FIRE Many Thought Brilliant Lights in West 'Were From Conflagration. Anaconda, Sept. s7.-One of the most glorl. ous sunsets of the season was witnessed last night. The sky to the westward was lighted up long after the sun had disappeared behind the mountains, and the western sky was painted in gorgeous colors-reds, oranges, blues, purples and violets being the prevailing shades. So brilliant was the display that some Anaconda residents thought a forest fire was raging west of town, while during the evening a number of inquiries came from Butte as to whether Anaconda was burning. Flels cher, who conducts an art store in East Park avenue, is on trial today befbre an insanity commission which is seeking to determine her sanity. Mrs. Fleischer and her husband have lived in California, Butte and Philipsburg. Recently Mrs. Fleischer came here from California to join her husband. Yesterday she had an altercation with her husband at the corner of Cherry and East Third streets, during which she pulled a revolver from the folds of her dress and struck him over the head, This led to her arrest. II. G. Bryant made the complaint charg ing her with insanity. He says her jeal ousy of her husband virtually amounts to insanity. Mrs. Fleischer has many friends here who deny that her mind is affected. The trial has been on all morn ing and all afternoon.
