Park OR, SULLIVAH MADE MILK AND MEAT INSPECTOR Dr. T. B. Sullivan, city health officer, was appointed milk and meat inspector for Butte to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Dr. J. B. Freund, and will now 'hold both positions. The meeting of the state meat and milk inspection board was held yesterday at Helena. The appointment of Dr. Sullivan, who is already city physician, will be a good thing for Butte, as it will enable him to give more time to the work. The salary for milk and meat inspector of lButte is $2,ooo, which is too little for a practicing pohysician to devote This whole time to the work. It was on account of the small sal ary that Dr. Freund resigned. Covers Same Ground. The city health office covers practically the same ground as the milk 'and meat iln spection. The same results could be ob tained with less work where 'the oflices are combined. The salary of the health officer is $Ir,oo a year which, with $a,oou added, makes a pretty fair compensation. "There should be two inspectors," said Dr. Sullivan this morning, "one for milk and one for meat. The salary is wholly inadequate for the work expected. One man must devote his entire time to it, Better Service Assured. "The work is being covered practically by the city health office and under the new arrangement I will be able to do greater Justice to the work of inspection. It will be a good thing for the city, too, for I can give more time to the health office. Of course there will be considerable expense attached to the new office." Transport in a Storm.
