MONT., BY & A REMINGTON — JOHN M. KAY John M. Kay at Buffalo, Fergus County, is a candidate for fee office of Superintendent of Public Instruction on the demo cratic ticket. Kay was born In Montana and received his early schooling in the schools of Bozeman. Before attending college he took a bus course in the Helena Business College. Later he attended Montana State College in Bozeman and graduated from Highland P«vlr «.II«» in Fto. M»in«. Tow. Parit college »« De* Momes. lt «a. As a teacher he has had a Wide experience. He was principal of a ward school in Bozeman for five years. Superintendent of Schools in Red Lodge for eight years and principal of Broadwater County high school at Townsend for eight years, and his record . Q , - „ rrnn( , v . He served one tenm as president of the Montana State Teachers' association and was president of the Montana State High School Athletic association, For six years he was in business for himself in Havre, Montana. When war broke out two of the boys immediately joined the colore and in war service in France both were gassed. John, fee older, is permanently affected and will probably never regain his health, while Perry is sufficiently recovered to allow him to earn his own living in Missoula although the effects of the gas still be seen. A very delightful feature of the program was the sing- ing of Frank Savage, who rendered . three solos. Mr. Graybill, Mr. Gock- rill, and Mr. Murphy made emphatic addresses. Mr. Mitchell followed with an address that was simple, straight forward and unbiased, the fact that Mr. Mitchell lived here as a young {man, and brought his bride here to make her home, made hie a real homv speech. Mr. Norton couldn't be pre vailed upon to speak, but he, did cor ro bo rate certain statements made by Mr. CockriU in behalf. The re mataing doaen candidates sat on the platform with the speakers and later met old friends and made new ones. Following the formal program, a very delightful dance was enjoyed for three hours. We had a splendid big republican rally here Tueaday night Dan Lenny presided in brief and pleasing style. The speakers of the evening were W. H. Hoover, R. A. Duncan and Walter Bennett, all of whom delivered very able addresses. Fifteen candidates took their places on the platform to tile strains of orchestral mask, and all were presented to the audience.
