Mow., w Snood Ooo Moil PUBLISHED EACH THURSDAY AT BELT, MONT., BY 8. A. REMINGTON THE REGISTER OF STATE LANDS 0s, In the past the State of Montana ha/had many able Registern of State Lands but in many cases they have been content to follow tiie policies of their predecessors and to conform to established usage in the management of that office. The appointment of L M. Brandjord of Ronan to this office b f Governor Erickson is one that is meetingjthe approval of the thinking people of the state. Register Brandjord ha* not felt himself bound by precedent but has blazed several new trails in the management of state lands and state funds. Realizing the lack of knowledge of the average regarding the lands of the state and the disposition of the person funds derived therefrom, he has placed facts before the people in intelligible form, he has- prescribed amortization bonds as a sity for those desirous of using public money, and has made of the State Land Office an active helping agent in the development of the state. - Mr. Brandjord has the confidence of the people in Lakt county, he won the confidence of his colleagues in several sessions of the state legislature and he is rapidly winning the trust of the whole state through his able and business-like administration of the affairs of his office. neces Bob" Sutherlin, lovable old editor of the "Rocky Mountain Husbandsman" haa passed away after having lived a life full of years and usefulness. During the years of the Belt Short-oourse he was an annual visitor and there were few who did not greet him as a friend. A staunch friend of Montana, an ardent advocate of irrigation and a man of sterling integrity, his years in this state saw many of his dreams come true and others still unfulfilled. To have lived so long in Montana and to have done so much for the common good is the lot of few and he will be chiefly re membered because of the good he has done. < • NOTICE OF CLAIM UNDER SBC HON 8872, R. 8..
